I have noticed the mention of DVC on these sites. What exactly does it involve?

DVC = Disney Vacation Club

Short version - Joining the Vacation Club means buying membership entitling you to an annual allotment of vacation points which are then used to 'pay' for staying in DVC resorts or trading out to other timeshare resorts worldwide.
