When I booked our cruise (for March '03) I was given info. from MS to call TravelGuard for trip insurance, and when to call MS back if I wanted to add DCL ground transfers to the port.

Does anyone know of transaction rules (legal stuff) as to why I can't just call DCL to handle these things? (Is my ressie technically through DVC and DCL would not recognize by ressie#??) The reason I would want to do it this way, is that DVC does not accept Discover and DCL does - we prefer using that if possible for the $-back!

Must members automatically use DVC's trip insurance provider, or do you research other options?
I'm not trying to beat the system, and I want to conform with DVC guidelines.

Anyone know the details on this stuff? natt

You are free to purchase travel insurance from anyone you want. Call aroung and compare rates.

As for transfers, I would try to call DCL directly. It cannot hurt. Sometimes DCL will not deal with the customer directly if they booked through a Travel agency. I am not sure why, but that seems to be the rule. I think DCL may consider DVC a "travel agency" but I am not sure. Again you are only out a call if they say no.

I personally prefer renting a "one-way" car to go to port and then rent another coming back (they usually cost $40 - 50 each way) or I have even hired the towncar services to take us ($190 a round trip). If you have 4 people cruising, you can have a private towncar for what you would pay DCL to ride a bus.
