DVC vs. CRO

Not looking for a debate, just an honest answer from someone who actually knows....why does DVC allow you to book 5 people in 1BR Villas that do not have the sleeper chair (e.g. OKW prior to reno), but CRO is not allowed to book this ressie with 5 (according to CM, computers won't even let them do it).

I know with DVC you would have to provide your own linens etc. Is this not allowed because they are assuming that non-DVC members would not come prepared with bedding?

Just want to know the difference. Thanks.

Probably because Cash guests at a hotel would not expect to have to haul an areo bed and sheets with them. If they booked 5 for a cash guest, the cash guest would expect it to be provided.

That was the only reason I could think of as well. Too bad they can't differentiate a "DVC - cash ressie" since DVC'ers know how it works

They kind of do, can't DVCers book cash nights through Member Services under the same occupancy rules as a point stay? Just not through CRO.

because CRO did allow it once - years ago. then MS did NOT.

but since CRO did - MS had to change their policy. they got CRO to stop doing it. the rules say 4 guests.

since CRO was not going by the rules - DVC did stop it.

what make so many members mad - me included. was that people who owned at OKW could not do 5 guests in a 1-bedroom - but a one time renter who went thru CRO could. It was definitely not FAIR.

who should be able to get OKW - it is surpose to be getting the sleeper chair too.

Yes, this is correct. But I was booking through CRO because I was looking at a bounceback offer. Plus CRO has much more open inventory right now, so better selection of resorts.
