I was invited via e-mail to sign up to watch a special video message from DVC and Disney. I just got done watching it online. It was a special video about the new Memories theme starting next year. Well, there was also a great buy on incentive offered. I wish I had not Just joined in June and was not in the middle of renovating my Master Bath.

All Buy on were with no cloing costs and same usuage year.

We have not even gone to our DVC resort yet and like I said bathroom redo, very expensive.

I hope someone else can benefit from this information.

Disney will always have "special" deals. They raise the prices then offer a discount. Throw in a gift card, developer points, a robe or tile as a added incentive and they sell contracts.

Start watching the resales and you can really save some money after you finish your bathroom.

Bill,

I always thought resale would be the way to go for add ons, but I keep reading things about DVC not treating resales the same....??? Example, banked points etc.

I hope the time comes when I can added on.

Thanks...:)

Until DVD actually changes their policy on how they treat resales, everything is just speculation. Nothing would surprise me but I'm note going to stop buying resales based on the unknown.

Just finished watching DVC presentation. While I sat and did the math it look like a really great deal, if you were to add on 250 points ($99/point, after subtracing $750 Disney Gift Card). But then I came here and clicked on the Timeshare Store and saw an offer for 210 points at $93 per point. So I'm not going to move quickly on this, even though you have to pay closing on a resale it's still the better deal. Just my opinion.

I've got to say, the video was a little disappointing -- lots of repurposed footage that we've seen elsewhere -- and the "incentives" were about equivalent to the regular discounts and such... Meh. For members, they could've cut to the chase a little faster and saved a lot of money on production.

I assume this is for new members...anything for existing members (lower point threshholds, incentive since closing costs are waived, etc.)?

No this is for add ons, not even sure if it's available for new people.

The one clip of the family showed the date on their pictures as 1997 - and the little boy looked about 5 in those pictures and he was at most 10 or 11 in their interview!! My DD and I were scratching our heads on that!

This was my first webcast and I have to admit....not very exciting!

What is the point of these things :confused3? It seemed like one big infomercial to me. I thought there was going to be some big news, but it was just a rehash of old information.

Side question...how does Disney know that you watched the video to get the lithograph? I was assuming that there was something to fill out and submit at the end, but nothing. Do they just verify that you log in, or do they verify the approx 30 minutes time that it took to watch the video?

Mine froze about 20 minutes in so I restarted it - if it freezes again I am not trying again!

DId anyone else think that song was horrible?

Just noting that the declaration that that there no closings costs and you got same use year was not an incentive but simply a statement of what is true for all add-ons through Disney.

Also, if you have to finance now, they do a credit check on all owners even if you are already a member, you may or may not get the preferred rate, depending on your credit.

Does everyone get the same incentives? I've highlighted what was different in my presentation....wonder why?

No closing cost Didn't hear this either...but I might have missed that as I didn't write anything about closing cost down
same year usuage

150 points at a $12.00 discount per point
Gift Basket
$500 Disney Gift Card

250 points at a $18.00 discount per point I didn't even hear this promotion...:confused3

Maybe the difference is for members already bought in and new buyers? We don't own DVC so maybe our deal wasn't as good? It also said if you financed it you had to make 3 months worth of payments in good standing before getting the gift basket or the gift card. And December 1st the price per point was increasing from 120.00 to 130.00

Yes, the song was horrible! Ugh... we won't be sticking around for the show this winter/spring.

@TheRatPack - Yes, I think the offer is different for members versus non-members. But I thought that the invite was only sent to members... go figure. Maybe they're hitting their whole mailing list, too. The difference would make sense in how they cut the ending, too. It was weird that they cut from the guy's frontal shot, to the side shot (on the couch). But they'd do that to cover the edits if they had a "member version" and a "non-member version".

I watched it last night. I agree that it was a rehash of what's already available. The crying after each video was a bit much.

It just blows my mind that DVC is going up to $130 a point.

The only thing good about this webcast was that I was able to show DH the chart and explain how points work.
