DVC Units on RCI's Vacation Rental Site

What is CRO controlled?

Also - On Tuesday, when that huge amount of rooms showed up on RCI website, my sister and I both did a search for the same week. We each saw available weeks , but different units. I saw AKL , BWV and OKW. My sister saw SSR and the BWV unit.

CRO = Central Reservations Office, AKA WDTC =Walt Disney Travel Comapany.

These are units that are available for cash only, they are either from Developers Inventory that have been placed in to the cash inventory, DVC member Trades to the Disney Collection, Estimated Breakage inventory, or the retained interest that Disney own in the resorts that can be used as "maintenance" units.

That's interesting. This is the first time I've heard anyone who only saw some---so far, everyone else has been all-or-nothing.

Maybe the strength of the banked week determines what you see. Though all DVC resorts are top-notch and should be equal.

BTW, my sister took the BWV unit. A 2 bedroom.

Thanks for the info Chuck.

Certainly with II there was a difference in the trade power between DVC resorts and it varied to a degree from time to time, usually based on the number of units available for a given resort and it DID COINCIDE to a degree with the expected demand of the given resort just like within the DVC system itself. It's likely that Alice and her sister's deposits are right at the cusp of the trade power needed and that one is slightly higher than the other due to when deposited, resort, unit size or similar. For both of them they need to make certain they bank as early as possible to have a chance of seeing the available DVC resorts because it appears that neither are seeing all the resorts online and even a delay of a week or two, or a slightly lessor week deposited, may shut them out.

This morning I was able to pull up the exchanges for a week I own at Grand Pacific Palisades in Carlsbad, CA. All 6 DVC resorts showed availability at some point during the 2009 year. AK only had one week in August and SSR had availability in a 1bd for almost every week during the summer. I traded my week for the 1bd SSR and I am very excited. We were supposed to stay at HGVC Sea World in a 3bd, but there are only 4 of us going and it is more important to me to stay on property than to have extra space that we won't use all of.

Interestingly enough, I called Hilton (where I also own) to try to pick up a few nights to fill in a gap between my DVC ressies and through Hilton RCI I was able to pick up 4th of July week in a 1bd at AK. I could not believe this as I had just called member services to switch my week and they did not have availability for the days I needed.

The inventory that RCI has is different than Hilton RCI (If that makes sense?) but either way we are very excited because we are now able to stay on property for our entire stay instead of switching to an off property resort.

When I checked about a week ago, there wasn't any inventory for DVC on RCI so my guess is that they have just released some of the inventory.
