I tried the search engine but it's disabled at this time....

Wifey-poo and I were curious if our experience was unique...we stayed at the BCV last week as guests of friends who bought in there. Our experiences on arrival at OKW, VB and BWV were all happy 'Welcome Home' ones...from the security at the gate to the maids we passed in the halls.

Beach Club had none of that...not rude, but no warm fuzzies for being owners. We happened to pull in at almost the same time as another member family. The back of their truck was _full_ and the bell hops commeneted 'Oh no, you must be DVCers' to them. It was gentle and said with a smile, but I can't shake the impression that DVC at the beach club is sorta like the red-headed stepchild of the resort.

Regardless of the lack of warm fuzzies, this week was a nice one, but it solidified in our minds that the rooms at OKW will trump anything offered at other WDW DVC resorts...including pools, kitchen sinks, boardwalks, and really neat train themed lobbies. :)

gee - ours was just the opposite - we got a welcome home from the bell services, the greeter and the front desk - of course my car has the DVC tag on its front - so I guess it is obvious..... and the front desk make sure that all my request were meet.... it was nice.

were we treated special or were you treated badly - I don't know - maybe more people will post and we will both see.

I am sorry you were treated badly -

Yea I agree about the rooms - but being able to walk to Epcot made up for alot!

Sorry you didn't get the warm fuzzies at BCV. I remember reading a post about a month or two ago (can't remember who posted it) saying that they also didn't get the warm fuzzies at BCV. At any rate, I'm glad you enjoyed your stay.

I got two welcome homes when we checked in at BCV last week.

At Downtown Disney as I was walking past the DVC kiosk, I heard a really loud WELCOME HOME from the lady there and she was talking to us (saw my DVC tote bag I guess). Then she said really loud: those people are DVC members, LOL. :)

The staff at BC may not be as "fuzzy" asthe other resorts because they deal mostly with BC guests.

I don't understand the difference then? Doesn't DVC Members check in at the WL and BW front desks just like they do at BC?

WL check-in is the same for all and I've read posts that have stated virtually the same thing the OP has stated. I think WL has gotten better because of the amount of time VWL has been open, but the CM's probably process twice as many non DVC'ers. BW I believe has two check-ins,one for the Villas and one for the Inn- only been there once, but I think I'm correct.

have all been great. Everyone very friendly and Welcome Home's all over the place. Look past this one, BCV'S is definitely just as good as are all DVC resorts

no everyone checks in the same place at BWV - I also when I check in give the front desk clerk my confirmation that DVC sends me - this may help them to understand that I am a member (since they can't see the car).

now I have no idea how the greeter knew I was a member - he might say "welcome home" to everyone I know they do at the Polyn.

We too have felt welcome at the BCV. I imagine the bellhop with the smile was able to guess it was a DVC family because our villas can hold so much more than a typical room and thus we can bring more!:D

We stayed at BCV last October, got welcome homes from the valets, bell services, and the CM at check-in. We found many CMs we passed during our stay to be very friendly.

I think it's all a matter of circumstance and timing. Anybody that doesn't get warm fuzzies one time will probably get them next time, and you can always make your own!

Sorry to hear that you didn't get the warm & fuzzies, but glad overall that you enjoyed your stay.

We've checked into OKW, VWL, and BCV and all the time we were at any of these resorts - we never received a "welcome Home" accept on the TV in the BCV.

I agree with you 100% jmminarik!

We stayed at BCV in March, and not once during checking, nor our entire stay did we get one Welcome Home. We got it at every single other DVC property we've stayed at. I specifically mentioned this to my wife during our stay because it felt so out of the ordinary.

This has been a complaint at BCV and VWL particularly and it appears VWL has improved greately in this area. I think the DVC add on to an existing hotel is part of it. BWV was there from the beginning and is the major part of the resort. OKW is all timeshares basically. The other 2 timeshares are a fairly minor part and they are still learning. I wouldn't worry about it.

I'm not worried or upset...just felt odd...like when we paid cash for rooms. I rationalized that there are alot more cash paying BCers than points spending DVCers and that was the root of the issue. DVC Warm fuzzies are nice...but not a trip spoiler if you don't get them.

Are you sure about one check-in at BW ? I'm not certain, but the more I think about it,the more I remember two counters, the one to the left being BWI, on the right BWV.

I believe that welcome homes have become overrated.. just my belief. Those that are members know who we are . Well its just can be silly .. asking for a 'welcome home ' ..just my two cents....dave

We got "welcome homes" and great service at Christmas at BCV. If service is lacking, provide the resort feedback so they can correct it.

We never received the warm & fuzzies at VWL and let them know about it - which is my suggestion to anyone who feels cheated after investing in the magic. The manager received feedback well and I've heard it's been improving. At the BCV (2/03)- even the repairmen and groundskeepers said hello. It was the best experience yet. Can't wait to get back this fall!
