DVC Travel Insurance

Has anyone used DVC's travel insurance through Travel Guard in order to protect points? If so, is this a good deal? Is it necessary?

Travel Insurance is like carrying an umbrella: it's a good way to guarantee that nobody in your family will get sick. I have bought it from time to time in the past, but my kids only get strep before the uninsured vacations, not the insured ones.

I have not bought Travel Insurance against points. To me it looks a bit expensive against what it pays for a cancellation. But it's always a gamble, so who knows?

They payout $5 per point if you cancel. You could probably do better renting, even with holding points.
