DVC Tracker-Caskbill.com owners /users

I guess I know less about computers than I thought. I have been trying all day to download "tracker" update. One of my problems is I don't have a clue what the directions in "read me" means. Is there a "for dummies" version out there?:confused3 I downloaded 2.0 then tried to download the update. Help!!

I am right there with you!! After trying 5 times, I quit!! I thought I was pretty computer savy, but this proved me wrong!!

I was starting from scratch, as we just became members last year. From what I could tell, this program looks great. I finally know what everyone has been talking about, even though I cant use it!!

Congrats to those who put in all of their time and energy to get this system back up and running!!

:) Maybe the folks at WDWinfo.com could do a video tutorial on using the program, like they have with posting photos. :thumbsup2

Thanks so much for contiuing to work on your husband's passion. I have always read such sweet things about him and this program.

( INSTRUCTIONS FOR GETTING TRACKER FOR THE FIRST TIME- From my "computer guru"
A person can install the 2.00 kit, add a contract, and then unpack the 2.10 zip file importing the point chart files as per the README ile in the zip file. They should add the contract first since the Other Tasks button is disabled if you have no contract in the system. Basic Level is sufficient to us the 2.1.0 version.

Good Luck!

DVC Tracker allows you to utilize my late husband's software to utilize the points you have purchased in your home resort within the DVC owners sytems of possible selections. If you want to stay at a specific location- it allows you to plug in dates at various locations and see how they compare...then it tells you total points used etc.
You can go to Caskbill.com to see what the original looks like. If you like the program..I just posted how to first load the original 2.00 kit, and then load the newly updated 2.1.0 version with current points allocations etc.

Welcome aboard if you care to utilize it.

See the instructions I just got from my "computer guru" as to how to load and use the original 2.00 kit/ the unpack the update 2.1.0 version.

Sorry there is confusion about this...but I had not anticipated this much of immediate interest in my late husband's program for a "first time user".

Thanks again for your interest!

The following instructions will allow you to use the BASIC LEVEL of DVC-Tracker by Caskbill

First- install the old 2.00 kit from Caskbill.com
Second-unpack the 2.10 zip file importing the point chart files as per the README file in the zip file.
Third-Add the contract first since the Other Tasks button is disabled if you have no contract in the system.

Basic Level is sufficient to use the 2.1.0 version.

" I am no longer selling the software on the upper levels---but I am providing free for new users---so they can utilize what was created by my husband/ and then updated with help from other owners." The above instructions will allow you entry and access to the Basic Level.

ENJOY THE MAGIC!

CaskPeg,

Thank you for the info. I will definately go and have a look at the program however I'm not so computer savy so I may have to have my DD's help.

Any Intel based Mac running OS X should have this already. It's a Mac based software that lets you partition your hard drive, load Windows on and then install whatever Windows based programs you want on that partition.

You then hold down the "Option" key at boot up to bring up a window allowing you to pick which drive to boot - regular or "bootcamp".

It's slick, especially since there is so much software out there that is PC only.

I figured that part out.( The one where it's on my MAC ,and i can partition my HD). What i didn't realize silly me is that i needed a Windows based OS. would it just be easier to get Parallels?

Sorry but we /I have never owned a Mac. Maybe there is someone who can help you out. Start a thread and entitle " Mac User wants to utilize Caskbill.com programs" and see what response you get from the general DVC ownership out there that my husband may have helped out in past times. Don't know if my "computer guru" works on Macs...but I will send the question to him and see what he replies. Meanwhile I would start a thread and see if you get feedback.

Sorry I can't be of much use with my limited knowledge of computers in general. I know my limited way around but not much past that.

Good Luck-

Caskpeg: I truly appreciate your help. I didn't mean for you to have to find the info for me. Alas I am still hung up on #4 in "Read Me". I am hoping another Disser can explain #4 to me -really dummied down. Caskpeg, please don't give it another thought. Thanks again.:goodvibes

Thank You CaskPeg,
that's a good idea. I did see Bills' program several years ago when i had a PC and did appreciate the work he put into it.

So excited to see this back. :cool1: Wow, sorry that I deleted all my original files. Guess I will start over.

RweTHEREyet

This was a response/ and cooperative effort of many to get Tracker up and running. It was resurrected in the hopes that those who loved it were still around and would return if given the chance. Hope you kept your entry contract code as you will need it for the .zip file. I just announced on the UK board as there were some "on the Continent" that also used the program.

Enjoy the Magic!

I am a first time user and have installed the DVC-Tracker 2.0 version and then the 2.12 update, but am unable to add my contract info because BLT is not in the drop down list. What am I missing? I've followed all the instructions and confirmed my version is 2.12. Help please!

No, the "other tasks" button is grayed out because I haven't entered my contract info yet. Hence, the endless loop of frustration...

I guess what you'll have to try is to enter a bogus contract, then go through the import of the point charts. Then undo the contract purchase of the bogus one and add your real contract info.

Hello
I have used the DVC Tracker for a few years now and I have a problem I am hoping that someone can steer me in the right direction. I upgraded to windows 7 from vista. I have the program in the windows old section and I can find my back-ups. Each time I try to use the program it thinks that this is a new computer. I try moving the back up to the new folder and no luck. I would even load a fresh program and put in all my reservations from scratch, but I can't even do that. I really like the program and any help would be appreciated.
