All to new at this. I have been on the boards since October 2008.
I have been to the Chats and post on the Boards a lot. however on our up incoming WDW stay. I have been thinking about doing the DVC tours. I would like to know a few things. Before I go.

I know someone told me this and I wrote it down. But I can't seem to find my notes.

If I take the tour, I won't be buying points on this tour. But maybe next time, Can I do the tour more then once?

I been told the tour wouldn't be more then 2 hours is that true?

Will they give me info to take since I will be the only one in my group doing the tour?

The others will most likely be in the parks or Water parks

Will i have an agent contact me after the tours or do i call them.

I had gotten the DVC DVD. (someone contacted me a few weeks later after i got the DVD)

Can i only sign up for the tour when i am down in Disney.

Can I use Points when I buy them to use them in Disneyland or are they only good for Disney world, Disney cruise lines, and Adventures by Disney

If I buy points and my mother decides later she would like points can i add points to my DVC so she can use them?

Thanks in Advanced (wasn't sure if this was the right thread)

Hallie

I have read a few people have done tours more than once and yes they will give you information to take with you.

I think you can schedule the tour before you go but you might want to wait until you get there and decide what your schedule will be. There are Kiosks all over the place and any one of them can help you schedule a tour. They will pick you up anywhere on property and drop you off anywhere you want after the tour.

A very small DVC will be opening at disney land in CA this november but with it being so small you may not be able to get reservations there if you don't own there.

As for the points being used by your mother, if she is not on your contract you would have to make the reservation for her and she wouldn't have access to the reservation but you don't have to go with her to WDW in order for her to stay on your points.

Yes, you can take the tour as often as you'd like.

The tour is usually about 90 minutes, but they can tailor it to meet your needs.

Yes, you will be able to take information with your after the tour.

If you indicate an interest, your guide can contact you after the tour if you wish. Otherwise there will likely not be any direct contact from DVC after the tour. If you are interested you will need to contact your guide.

You can arrange a tour in advance or once you are onsite - call 1-800-800-9100 to schedule a tour. You can contact DVC from any onsite resort room or make a reservation at any DVC kiosk - at any WDW resort and in all Theme Parks and DD.

Can I use Points when I buy them to use them in Disneyland or are they only good for Disney world, Disney cruise lines, and Adventures by Disney
DVC points may be used at any DVC resort and also at most WDW resorts, DL resorts, Concierge Collection, Disney Cruise Line, World Passport Collection or Adventurers Collection.

If I buy points and my mother decides later she would like points can i add points to my DVC so she can use them?

You can always purchase add-ons to your contract as long as the purchase (25 point minimum) is done using the same names as the original purchase. If you want points in someone else's name the 160 point minimum would still apply.

Enjoy! :)

I've done the DVC tour @ WDW & CA. Drug everyone along both times. The kids LOVED the tour (8 and 5 -- the kids center has video games, toys, snacks). It was a nice break and we got fastpasses. Oh -- @ DL, my 5-year old thought the Red Van drive over to the tour center was a ride. He was SO excited when we got to ride in it again to go back to DL. He is 47" tall and has been on every ride that he's tall enough to ride, but somehow that Red Van made his day! 'Mommy can we ride the Red Van again after Big Thunder!' So, I guess I need to know if you can take the tour after buying? ;)

We scheduled our tour before going down as we just called our recommended tour guide. She was wonderful and when we didn't plan accordingly for the tour and our next ADR...she even had the van drop us off at the resort our ADR was at. We just scheduled another tour for BLT when we go down next week.

The minimum buy-in from Disney right now is 160. The minimum add-on is 25. To be an add-on, it needs to be titled the same way as the original contract, with the same use year. So there would be disadvantages to putting your mother on a future contract--it couldn't be an add-on. But you CAN make her an associate member on your membership -- she could make her own reservations with the points, and would have a membership card, but she wouldn't have anything to do with the finances. That is not an arrangement that works for everybody, but it's certainly something to consider.
