I'm thinking about taking the tour and have a few questions.

1) How long is it?
2) How much pressure do they put on you to buy?
3) Will they pick us up at our resort and then drop us off at one of the parks?
4) Are there any perks for doing the tour?

2 hours max
Little
Yes
Maybe

We took the tour a couple years ago. I first spoke to a gentleman at a Downtown Disney kiosk, who offered us transportation to and from Downtown. I instead insisted on driving my car, thinking that if I was overly pressured I could just leave. I think that the first thing I told my hostess was "I am not buying anything today, I am just gathering information". She told me "no problem", and we spoke for about an hour on all the ins and outs of DVC. I never felt any pressure to buy, though I will say that I left no question that I would not be pressured.

As far as perks are concerned: we were offered ice cream and fast passes (we took neither because we were at the end of our trip).

If you are serious about DVC I would highly recommend the tour. It is not worth it for the perks only.

We made an appointment that allowed us a little over an hour until we needed to leave for the airport. We received the information, talked to our guide about numbers, and he sent us on our way with a packet of information. He said give him a call if we want to join and waived us goodbye. We found out after reading these boards that we missed a perk... a sundae!!! Can you tell I'm still a little bitter about that!;)

Enjoy the beautiful rooms!

3.Yes

We did the tour back in May 2004, the sales center at that time was still in the BWV. We signed up at the DVC kiosk in the lobby of WL where we were staying. They did have pick-up and drop-off shuttles to and from the resort, or they would drop you at another location if you wanted (DTD, one of the parks, etc) The tour took approx. 2 hours and they had a supervised, enclosed (1/2 wall) play area for kids so the adults could tour in relative peace. I think the kids had ice cream, movies, etc. and we checked in on them several times. The perk at that time was food vouchers for up to a family of 4. It probably amounted to a $40 perk. There was absolutely no pressure (at least from our guide). We "slept on it" until we returned home and could talk about it and process the info. My only regret is that we didn't look into it in 1998 when we had our 1st family trip. I remember then seeing the kiosks here & there and not thinking too much of it.

We went to the sales area in 1997 - then at the Boardwalk. My husband told our guide that we didn't want a tour or to watch a movie just to ask a couple of questions - she said good what are your questions. We spent 30-45 minutes with her and she gave us the literature to take with us. We stopped at the Big River Grill and had a beer and some nachos while we looked over the information. We then went back inside and asked for her - she was talking to someone else so we had to wait a few minutes - told her to write up the paperwork for 220 OKW points as fast a possible as we had reservations for dinner at the Poly - As we walked through the Boardwalk lobby to get back to our car the person at the DVC desk looked up and said "Welcome Home". At that time we got a nice canvas zippered bag to carry our paperwork in which is what tipped them off I guess. We had done two other timeshare presentations here in NE and had anticipated the hard sell approach - there was absolutely no pressure at all. At the time there were no incentives so we did not get the "you have so many days to take advantage of the price and incentive offer we make today" statement.

I am very interested however I hate being presurred and don't want to make a decision right then and there. Especially when I not sure if I should buy through disney or resale.

You will not bbe pressured. Go to the tour early in the trip because the perks can be used in the parks. Usually a bunch of special fast passes.

We took the tour on the last day of our 10th anniversary trip. We didn't decide to take the tour until the last evening of the trip. We stopped at one of the kiosks at Epcot (on the path into World Showcase) and the CM there was able to make a call to squeeze us in the next morning.

We were picked up by a van at the WL and took a pleasant drive to SSR. The van driver was from PA, so we had lots to talk about.

Once there, we had to wait about five minutes to meet our guide. We did the tour in about 1.5 hours, as we had to get back to catch ME for the trip home.

We felt absolutely no pressure. The tour usually starts in a small sitting room off of the reception lobby. The guide will talk about your current vacation, how you like to vacation, and what the rest of the tour will be like.

After the opening chit-chat, you will go to the sales center. At this time, you will be assigned a small, private room. There is a large Apple flat screen display (connected to a PC... what a waste of a beautiful display) that will show you all of the resorts as well as information on the point system. Next, your guide will likely show you a points chart. Ours even asked us to figure out how many points our trip would have cost us. Once we understood how the points work, he took us to the "Dream Room."

The Dream Room is a multimedia display that shows other destinations that could be reached using the points. There were also individual rooms to check out the details of these destinations. From there, we went to the AKV models and then the SSR models.

We came back to the private room where our guide then went over current promotions and pricing. He printed out the information, put it all in a nice DVC paper bag, and gave us a copy of the Dreams book. We were offered a sundae, but we didn't have enough time to partake. The van took us back to WL (another PA native) just in time to catch the ME.

Did we feel pressured? Not at all. Our guide did call a few days later to check in, but we weren't home. He left a nice message, but didn't call back. After a couple of weeks of calculations, we decided to buy.

I called our guide back on Saturday (he was off), he called back Sunday afternoon and answered a few final questions. The final phone call was about 12 minutes. Our welcome kit is on the way!

All-in-all it was a great experience. We never felt pressured to buy, and it didn't look like anyone else there was being pressured either. It was a very low-key event.

Our experience was the same, but the little room with the the monitor and computer was a little strange (to me), felt like an exam room at the doctor's office.

The Dream room thing did not happen for us that day, as it was being repaired or something.

They gave us special fastpasses and a ride to our next destination!!

7 months later, we made an offer on a resale at BWV, for which we are currently awaiting closing.

It's all in my Christmas trip report, should you care to endure (I mean read) it.

T:goodvibes he tour was great. They picked us up at the Swan and returned us there, which is what we wanted. Our guide, Rob, was great. No pressure at all. I thought that the whole presentation was very informative. The dream room is very cool. I did not mind the little room with the big flat screen. That is where most of our questions were answered. The best part of the tour was seeing the model rooms of SSR and AKV. (The AKV rooms sold DW on the whole idea) We left with most questions answered and a bag full of good info. 5 days later...we were AKV owners!

Take the tour, it is painless.
