I am planning a trip to Disney in September and have a few questions about the DVC tours:

1. We have a 2.5 year old son - does anyone know what activities are available for him at the kids club? Should we bring him or leave him with a relative while we meet with the DVC staff?

2. What are the hours you can meet with a sales rep?

3. Is there a "Central" sales office or do you go to BLT, AKV etc.?

Am I going to leave there DYING to buy a DVC? I'm going for an information gathering and am afraid I'm going to become obsessed with buying one ;)

thanks!!

1. I would leave him with relatives.

2. I think it's between 9-5 daily.

3. The preview center is at SSR.

I would research as much as passable before your visit. Buying direct will cost you more than buying resale.

2. What are the hours you can meet with a sales rep?

i know they open the models up for owner visits after 5 pm...so i know the tours generally stop around 5. (exceptions may be made...not sure.)

3. Is there a "Central" sales office or do you go to BLT, AKV etc.?

the central sales office (and the models) are at SSR. DVC will provide transportation to SSR and back (or wherever you want to be dropped off).

BTW, there is another model of the BWV over on the boardwalk. if you happen to be over that way, just drop in.

All of the tours take place at the DVC Sales Center - located at SSR. You can easily arrnage for a tour at any of the DVC kiosks located in every park, at DD and in every Disney resort. They will provide transportation to/from the tour. There are models there for AKV, BLT as well as SSR.

The childcare center is right at the Sales Center and they will take wonderful care of your child, but if you have a built-in sitting option that might be even easier.

The Sales center is open from early morning into the early evening - so there will be no problem finding a convenient time.

Enjoy! :)

Hoping I can add on some questions. If this doesn't work I will start a new post.

At this time I really don't see myself buying into DVC. I don't think we would go more than every other year at best. I am very curious though and will be going on a kid free trip in Dec. I was thinking that going on the tour may be a good way to spend our free day which we want to keep free (as in not spend any money :rotfl:)

Anyway here are my questions:

How long does the tour take?

How much pressure will we get to join?

Do we just get a presentation or do we get tours? If so what resorts?

I have heard that they give a gift like FP for going through the tour. Is that true?

Thanks!

I'd allow for 90 minutes, but they will tailor the tour to meet your needs if your time is short.

Compared to many timeshare presentations, there is no pressure ot buy. They will provide transportation to/from the tour and you will not hounded during or after the presentation.

The sales center is located at SSR and everything takes place there. There are models of SSR, BLT and AKV right there and virtual tours of other resorts. If you want to visit the other resorts you can always ask at the fornt desk if there is a villa you could see. If they one unoccupied and clean they re usually happy to let you into the villa.

They have offered FP or gift cards at times. They will offer you a free ice cream at the conclusion.

Enjoy!

Typically a few hours, but I believe that includes the time to sit down with a guide and discuss the program.

Many DVC guides are low pressure. I know that mine is and many Dis members have posted the same. You can always use the thread on this board to get the name of guide who others have recommended and make an appointment with that one to tour.

The tours and presentations are at SSR and they have both BLT and AKV models set up.

I have heard that they give a gift like FP for going through the tour. Is that true?

Yes, they have given these out to people for taking time out of their day.

Thanks!

Taking the tour is nice and they have ice cream too! It is a great way to see the models and get a chance to have your questions answered for purchase, even if you know that is down the road some time.

Have fun!

Are you the DVC Member, or have you rented the reservaton from the member? If you are renting, all arrangements need to be made through the member. If there is availablility, it shouldn't be any problem changing your reservation at a DVC resort. If you are staying at a Disney resort on points, and not a DVC Villa, there is another layer of reservation availability, so it may not be available.

You can also take the tour at Bay Lake Tower. My parents just did that last week.
