Dvc time to book vacation after title close

Hi all,


Seller has been with delay to get papers in to close. Our closing is scheduled for when papers arrive ; supposedly in mail. Been waiting for 1.5 wks now. Anyhow, I'm trying to book sept vacation and I know I'm cutting close now.

When can I call and ask for my member ID # to book vacation? I need to let work know my dates, buy airline tickets, passes, etc..... Ugh. Waiting is a drag

Unfortunately, you probably have at least another 3 to 4 week wait. Once the seller closing papers are rec'd closing can occur. But then the deed must be recorded -- which is usually the day of closing of the day after. Then Disney is notified that you are the new owner. It then takes about 10-14 days to receive your membership number … and another 10 days or so to have the points loaded into your account.

I know, the wait is the worse part of the entire process. Hang in there.

I agree I'd count on four weeks and be happy if it is less. Closing isn't instant on receiving signed papers it took my last one about a week. It takes Disney at least a full two weeks to set you up and it takes the closing company a few days to transfer all to Disney. Calling Disney May or may not speed things up. In the last year they have more or less stopped giving member numbers out over the phone. Some report success on calling but many more are told to wait for a letter.

Hopefully spetember won't be too busy and you will still get something but be prepared to split your stay

Thank you for the timeline- I think knowing what to expect does help in planning and NOW I can plan for back up.

Perhaps the waitlist idea may work for us, if needed

About a week after closing I started calling MS and nicely asking if we'd been added to the system. All the CMs checked for me, only one grumbled about it (one in 4 isn't bad). At 9 business days after closing I called Member Accounts and the woman there was more than happy to give me my member number and connect me with someone to book my first vacation.

At 3 weeks after closing, we had not heard anything from Disney regarding our member number or password, so I called the closing company who checked for me and confirmed they had us in the system and that I should receive the info within another 10-14 days. I tried to wait patiently but after another few days I decided to just try calling to see if I could get the info, since we had points that were going to expire at the end of July and I was anxious to book something. The CM I talked to was so nice and accommodating and provided me with the information I needed to log into the DVC member website...about another 2 or 3 days later I also got my info in the mail. So I guess if I had waited it out, it would have been about 3 1/2 weeks after closing before we received our information. It's SO hard to wait, I know! Hope yours comes quickly, but you can always try calling Disney to see if you can get your info, too.
