DVC ticket upgrading scenerio...is this possible?

We took advantage of the DVC Premium plus pass deal last year (we wish we could renew it at that rate! Wouldn't that be awesome?!).
But alas...we can't...and ours expire in mid August this year and we want to go back at the end of August 2019. We plan to go back at the end of this year, but I can't renew and downgrade to the Gold pass which is what I'd like to do because of black out dates during the first 6 days of our trip.

Can I do this.....?
Buy a 7 day ticket, use 6 days and on the 7th day upgrade to a Gold pass? The 7th day is not a blackout date on the gold pass calendar. That would allow us to use the pass again in August of 2019.

Yes, you can upgrade a ticket to the gold pass after you are done using it to get around the blackout dates. We did this for spring break. Used a 5 day military salute ticket during the blackout dates and then upgraded it at guest services to a gold pass after leaving the park on our last day. Have since used the gold pass for another trip without any problem.

And not that it really matters, but you don’t really need to buy a 7 day ticket if only the first 6 days are blacked out. Just upgrade it on the 6th day at guest services when you are done with the parks that day. I think you could also just upgrade it on the morning of your 7th day as well. I think you just have to do it within 14 days of first use. Not 100% on that but if you ask Robo on the ticket thread he will for sure know the answer to the 14 day window.

Also, if you are going in August, none of your days should be blacked out as the black out days are only spring break and around Christmas. So I would recommend just renewing the AP you have at the gold rate renewal.

Never mind, just saw you said that you are also going back at the end of this year. So I guess you will be hitting the Christmas black out dates.
