Is there anyway to see what DVC inventory is available thru Interval International or ll?
Thanks, Murphy

You'd need a week either on deposit, or eligible for same. The inventory available will depend on which if your weeks you are using to search. The "better" your week (resort quality, high demand, low supply) the more of the potentially available DVC weeks you can see.

Only if you are an II member and have a trade week available of sufficient trade power and resort quality. Remember most II weeks never make it to where anyone can see them as they are used to match pending requests before they ever go online.

Thanks for the quick reply. I have a friend who owns Marriot in Aruba and was thinking of a trade to DVC but was wondering if there was anyway of knowing in advance what is avail. We may just trade with each other, but I can't seem to bring myself to give up my points for Disney!

Your friend can do what's called a "request first" search, such that he can keep his week unless II can find a suitable match for him.

There are far more limitations on the request first with II than the DVC version. The travel must occur by or BEFORE the dates of the week he's giving up. If he's past 10 months time in advance, he'll start to lose trading power and he won't get a bonus week that he likely would otherwise. What one can do is look on line like every morning and if he sees something then simply deposit his week then turn around and do the trade for that unit he saw. There's a small chance it'll disappear in the interim but not that much if he does it right.

Most of the DVC units that make II for an instant confirmation are 1 bedroom or studios. Bigger units are usually taken by people with a request filed.

This am, I was looking with my Marriott and saw a huge amount of DVC 1 bedroom and studios for most DVC Orlando from Aug - Sept. including VWL. There was a couple of January also but I can't remember what resort.

I'm not sure a Marriott in Aruba would lose much trading power and not pull an AC at 10 months. You can't get any higher in demand than Aruba and Hawaii. We got one for our HHI week at less than 10.

If you are an II member, & you have a week to deposit, you CAN see what's available for that week. I've traded into DVC many times, but you can usually only see 1 bedrooms or studios. If you want a 2 bedroom you definately have to put in a request and keep your fingers crossed.

I don't know that much about their timeshare except that they just got back from 3 weeks in Aruba, 2 weeks in a 2 bedroom and 1 in a 1 bedroom. They need a 2 bedroom and a 1 bedroom for their Disney vacation and actually would like to go in Sept of 2009. I'll pass this thread along to them.
Thanks again for all your replies.

The good news is that September is probably the easiest time to exchange in. 2BRs will still require a strong trader at a better-than-average resort, and possibly an ongoing search.

Just got a 2 br at BCV in Sept. in exchange for Hot Springs, so maybe you'll luck out.

The trading power will decline slowly starting at 10 months but it will go down quicker for a Gold unit than a platinum one. You lose the AC if you do request first.

Assuming they own a 2 BR there, they'll have to make a few choices. The only way they can search for a 2 BR is if they deposit a 2 BR but they'll lose one week exchange option based on not utilizing the lockoff. Their better chance of success would be to lock off and try to get the smaller units separately but i'll cost them an extra $250 roughly to take that approach. I'd say they have an excellent chance of getting a 2 BR and 1 BR for Sept 2009 if they plan accordingly and if they'll accept SSR or OKW. They'd have a chance at others but much less so.

Aruba is a good trader! Your relatives shouldn't have much trouble trading into DVC, provided that they don't want holidays, and they put in their trade 11 months ahead. I traded a crummy week for SSR in February, which surprised me. I don't know why, but that crummy week ALWAYS trades in to DVC!! The week is so bad that we have never even been to our home resort! Perhaps February is an easy month to trade for?:confused3 What I do is deposit my week, then I spend time looking for places I can trade to. SSR comes up a lot, so I usually have good availability, but you have to make a quick decision, because they don't last long, usually the week is gone after a 1/2 day.:scared1:
