Now that I am only 2 months out :banana::banana: I had a few questions I hoped you all could answer.

We will be staying at VWL for 7 nights. Does this mean we will only get the DVC T&T service on day 4??

Also, since my ILs booked this, what information do I need to get from them to schedule ME and possibly the DDP? I know much more about these things so it will probably be easiest if I do it.

Thanks in advance!!

Included with their RCI confirmation, there should be some info on contacting DVC Member Services. That is who you would contact to add a dining plan and ME. Yes, RCI should receive the same limited housekeeping as a member staying on points, so Trash and Towels on day 4. Additional full housekeeping or trash and towel can be arranged at the resort for a fee, if desired. If I were you, I'd just get photo copies of everything that RCI sent pertaining to the reservation.

Enjoy your stay.

Trash and towel on day 4, bring confirmation and pay the 95.00 fee at check in. member services can arrange your ME and ddp

I am hoping to use my inlaws rci membership in 2013 for a stay at akv. how far in advance did u book??
do they have to be with us for the stay??
what is the 95 fee for??

thanks!!

The $95 fee is applied to all RCI trade-in reservations. DVC calls it some sort of resort fee. We, as members, also have a $95 fee when we trade out to not only RCI, but to any non-DVC venue, like a non-DVC Disney hotel room, Adventures by Disney, cruises, etc. I suspect the purpose of the fee is to offset the Member Services/Member Accounting time required, but the actual details really aren't known.

thanks.

Do u know if we can use it without my inlaws travelling with us??
You'll have to get a Guest Certificate from RCI for $59 in order to put the reservation in your name. Otherwise, everything will be in the name of the owner of the RCI account.

Yes have your in laws make the reservation in your name and as PP there will be an additional 59.00 fee for guest. i was told by member service the 95.00 upon check in helps subsidize admin fees and magical express, bus service to the parks ect... My daughter is staying at BWV in July on RCI exchange and it will cost her 149.00 + 59.00 and 95.00 on check in for a total of 303.00 not bad for a 2 bedroom villa!

Nonsense. The only thing the $95 buys you that you wouldn't otherwise get as a guest of that resort (e.g. staying on a Member's points) is the ability to call Member Services directly concerning your reservation.

It's there because people will pay it, pure and simple.

If she is staying there on RCI points, do you mind me asking what the 149 is for??

It might not be points. There are RCI weeks and RCI points. The $149 is the fee you pay RCI to trade your week.

For those looking to trade in, know if it is weeks or points. If it is weeks, it has to be an exceptional trader to even have the trade power to get in.

My inlaws have intrawest so it would be points....would I still pay the 149 fee??
how hard will it be to get a three night reservation at akv?

well, don't forget the upfront costs and annual dues for the timeshare week(s) traded into RCI. but it's true that it's still usually much less than buying DVC directly.

I believe the $149 is the exchange fee. I have Weeks and when I exchange there is a $179 exchange fee. Perhaps it's less if you exchange points?

We booked at about 8 months out. I would get their log in information and check EVERY DAY. I have not seen any for AKV, I saw SSR, VWL, BWI and BLT.

Good luck!

Thanks everyone for your help. These last 2 months are dragging!

thanks. do u think I will have a hard time booking akv??
am thinking of booking thru disney just in case and we can always cancel it.

This is different than members pay to exchange out. Those RCI members haves paid between $139 and $200 to exchange out and the $95 fee is on top of that. Whatever they call it, it's essentially an extra fee because they can which they apparently use to fund the program. In effect it's those that exchange in paying for the members exchange options and department that deals with it as you suspect. It provides nothing that one would not get by staying on property otherwise and essentially nothing that off property guests wouldn't get from a MS standpoint, not to mention that the DVC members have ALREADY paid for ALL options that might be provided with their dues.

To date DVC has not done deposits for exchange less than 7 days that I can tell.

It depends. If they want a 2 BR or higher demand time it might be tough.

i know they can do exchanges under a week. Have done it before. was just wondering if akv is hard to get at 7 months out?

I had an ongoing search for months finally in Feb I got a 2 bedroom at BLT for sept. so if there is something you want go onto RCI website and put in an ongoing search for AKV you can put in flexible dates and room size.

Not through RCI so far, which was the topic of discussion. They potentially can through BVTC which CI also does work with. I suspect the $95 additional fee doesn't apply to those exchanges though. To get less than 6 nights, you can only book at 4 months out or less, for 6 or more it's 7 months out for DVC members trading out to CI, I would assume the same restrictions occur in reverse but you should check for sure. It is subject to availability and DVC tries to keep a balance between outgoing and incoming for that system. If you try, let us know how it goes.
