At the DVC desk across from the future cruise booking desk you can get some gifts, maybe a hat, maybe a DVC pin or stickers or a keyring. At Bingo I won a DVC tote bag.

On our cruise last Summer we would get messages in our room to stop by the DVC desk for a gift. One day a pin, another day it was a red passport holder. You also get a gift if your room. If you go to the DVC Member presentation you often get a hat and the chance to win other prizes.

Ohhh....I love surprises! This will be our first cruise since we joined DVC. To get the surprises did you use DVC points to "pay" for your cruise or did you have DVC noted on your reservation or did they just know you were DVC? We are paying cash and used a travel agent and didn't think to note we were DVC.

I guess then you just show up at the DVC Member Reception and perhaps bring your DVC Membership Cards!

Always nice getting a hat or something "DVC"!!!!:goodvibes

Does anyone know if perhpas I was given "wrong" information...If you pay cash and you are DVC members, should the TA "note" it on the reservation?

Thanks!:cool1:

From what I have read on here DCL just "knows" you are DVC. You should have DVC member magnets on in your stateroom when you get there. If for some reason you don't you can go to guest services and let them know.

When I went on my last cruise, I stopped by the desk at port and told them that I was a DVC member and gave them my cabin number to ensure that they had the information to include me in any information they were giving to DVC members.

We paid cash on our last cruise and they did not know we were DVC members. I just went to the DVC desk and told them that we were members and they took very good care of us.

Thanks! So, at Port Canaveral there is a DVC desk? If so,
GREAT IDEA!

Can't wait to experience the Dream!:yay::yay::yay:

Every cruise, we've paid cash and we've had to tell them we were DVC once on board. They never knew ahead of time but once told they were always great to us. :thumbsup2

Not true we paid cash for our LA to Vancouver trip and got DVC invite and all the goodies. Interesting we used points for Alaska, they had us on the list but at first our stateroom was missed. I don't know about the 3 and 4 days on the Dream but on Alaska and last year's Baltic we also got a very nice DVC wooden box in our stateroom as a gift.

Yes, there is (or at least there was when I went on a cruise in Dec. of 2008).

I love all the DVC surprises. We go to all the meetings to try to win the $200 or $300 raffle, lol. Last year, I won the $300! This year, a couple won it TWICE, at two of the meetings!

Funny thing was after I won, I went to play bingo and a little raffle prize was a bag full of DVC items. They mentioned you should go to the meetings and about the raffle, so I piped up, "I won it!" and then I won the raffle. I'm sure folks thought it was a fix :rotfl2:.

It seems that some are saying to let them know you are DVC and others are saying that they just know. We want to go ahead and let them know so is there a spot on the DCL website where we can notate it or do we need to call? Or is this something we do when we get to port?

We have some friends that just went on a 5 night Dream cruise and even though they aren't DVC they got a DVC door magnet, 4 hats & shirts and a pretty cool picture of Walt with Lillian. They better not leave thier DVC DCL swag out and about in their house when I visit or it might end up missing. :rolleyes1

Somehow the DVC cast members know who is a DVC member. You will find DVC magnets on your door. A special DVC gift on your bed and invitation to the member gathering.
If you don't see any of this on your first day just go to deck 4 DVC desk and let them know you are on board. A DVC member card, or maybe just your name and DVC guide name should be enough.
IN the meetings there are usually hats, lanyards, brochures in a folder, and the Q & A sessions usually give you something small to win like a bag, towel, pin, etc.

We went on a 3 night Wonder cruise last year. Four days prior to the cruise we joined DVC. We happened to mention this to the lady at the booth in the terminal and she made quite the fuss over us and made sure we were added to her list. We even had "Welcome Home" magnets on our doors by the time we arrived at our stateroom. We went to the welcome reception and got hats and lanyards and my husband won a travel blanket. If we dropped by the DVC booth everyday on board we got a small gift - one day it was a BLT pin - which the DVC rep promptly told us was currently selling on Ebay for $20 (we each got one). We didn't sell - just traded! :) So, just let the DVC rep know you're there and, from my experience, they'll look after you!

We have paid cash for 2 cruises and paid for one with points and the mouse knew every time. There is usually a DVC CM at the terminal and you can check with them. We did this the first time and were quite surprised that DVC knew (paid that cruise cash and booked with a travel agent).

I've always had the TA or CM make note of my membership in the reservation when I make it (have paid cash and used points for cruises). Never had any problem and have always received invite to DVC member gathering, etc.

I say let your TA or the DCL CM handling your reservation that you are DVC members...
