DVC Suggestion: Free APs!

I'd like to see a discount on MYW tickets as well. I think the AP discount I'm already getting is good and I do get a lot of use out of it. However, for DN and other guests, a discount on the MYW tickets would really help.

Another nice incentive would be to offer fastpasses for DVC owners. Maybe something similar to the "other resort/park" offers; anyone staying with a DVC notation on their room key can use fastpass line at will. That would be nice, very nice !!!

Be careful what you wish for. Fast Passes are a finite resource. Every "preferencial treatment" Fast Pass means one fewer Fast Pass available under normal rules.

Disney has far more business justification to provide "preferencial treatment" Fast Pass benefits as an incentive to get potential guests to book $300-to-500-per-night rooms at deluxe resorts than to provide such benefits to those of us who have bought DVC points over the past 15 years. And if Disney ever does so, it would hurt DVC members. Fortunately, Disney has been very fair in how Fast Passes are distributed, and I hope that will continue.

That's the only reason we went to the DVC presentation. We got three special fast passes per family member for going (no waiting for the return time). The fast passes got us there. Then we bought. I wouldn't mind three extra special fast passes for each family member per trip. That couldn't hurt the lines too much. That would get us spending money at the parks!

P.S. The bummer is that we didn't get to use one of them. We saved them for Christmas Eve for Test Track and the fast pass line was 1 hour long and our plane was leaving that afternoon.

What would be Disney's business reason for giving such Fast Passes to DVC members, but not to Deluxe Resort guests, Moderate Resort guests, Value Resort guests, or offsite lodging guests?

DVCers don't have to go to the parks because we go all the time. That would give us an incentive to go. The resort people are staying at the resort to go to the parks. Plus.. I would get free fast passes.

I think DVD should offer automatic AP renewals for DVC owners and have the pass added to the annual dues. At a better discount than they currently offer. This would keep many more people in their parks EVERY DAY, instead of 2 or 3 out of 7 like we do. We would spend more money on meals for sure!

That doesn't exactly seem fair to someone like me - who gets a 10 day non-expiring hopper with pluses and uses it over four YEARS of trips (we only go every other year - generally). It doesn't seem fair to someone using three years worth of points to cruise, or someone who owns their points in Hawaii or Hilton Head and uses them there.

What about this.......When you purchase at least 160 points, you lock in the price of a 7 day pass on the day you actually buy in to DVC. Just like the point system never changes for the life of the contract, the price for a 7 day would be the same until your membership expires!!!!

Well, if I have access to discounted MYW tickets, I would bring more friends and family, thereby bringing more revenue with food and all those lovely souvenEARS. As it is now, I go with my AP, Mom and Dad go with their AP's and we take DN and buy MYW for her. Disney only gets one full price ticket out of us. My AP is discounted with DVC and the Parentals are Florida Residents and Seniors. Even a small discount would encourage me to bring more folks along when I visit.

So true, and the way they are selling there is no need to offer this as an incentive. Just like I always say about the Chicago Cubs, If you fill the park with a bad team, why spend money for a good one.

Like someone above mentione,d if there was a discount on MYW passes maybe it would equate to more DVCers and their guest spending more days in the park. They are no dummies though, they probably have it all figured out. They already know how to milk as much out of everyone that they can and still keep them smiling.

I agree Crisi. We do the same thing. We can make a 10-day pass spread over 3 1-week trips.

On a side note: Free fast passes aren't going to get me to change my park going habits. Of course that is just me. There are just so many other things to do at WDW outside that parks. Plus, I need a couple days to relax by the pool.

I'm sorry, but a 20% or 30% discount on a pass is not going to determine whether my friends and family come along. I would love to see a discount. But it will in no way will change whether I bring my kids and grandkids next year. 20% or 30% off of passes is really just a spit in the bucket when you consider the trip as a whole. If someone is using a $50 discount to determine whether they go or not, I don't think I would want them on the trip with me. They are going to complain about the cost of every meal at WDW.

30% off of tickets is certainly no spit in the bucket when you are talking about larger familes. that 30% off could easily cover the entire ticket cost for 1 or 2 more friends or family members

it could easily be managed to have quite a minimal impact. you are talking such a small percentage on any given day at a given park that the impact would probably barely be noticed



Also even if they did offer it to deluxe reosrt guests, i still think that the overall impact would be minimal, you are talking just one group of on site guests, many of whom would have been getting fast passes themsleves anyway

Hard to say what type of profit or problems it could create. If too many passes are given out, it could affect the pass lines. I don't think any of us want to wait 30 minutes in the Fast Pass line. Plus, I don't feel that we have more right to the passes over someone who has waited in line for the pass. Remember, they can only have so many. It kind of defeats that whole purpose if they are giving them out all over the place and printing as many as they like. There are all types of people that might feel they deserve them more than we do. I think that people visiting through Make a Wish might deserve them more than I do. I guess it just isn't that important to me. And I sure hope someone is not basing whether they buy or not on Fast Passes.

Sorry, but when I add in the cost of airline tickets, food, park tickets, etc., I get a number around $3,000 or more for 4 people for a week. So saving $50 per person ($200 total) just doesn't sway me one way or the other on whether we go or not. It doesn't even cover 10% of the trip. I sure won't turn it down, but it won't help me in making the decision.

ok so lets take it one step further. Fast passes will be available to ONLY resort guests (like universal does) under the rules as they are now, but to DVC members with the swipe of their card any time they want! ok, i can dream can't I?
