Can anyone tell me what you think of the sofa beds in the studios? Can someone over 6ft tall and over 250 LBS be comfortable for 3 to 7 nights? If you had to pick on place to stay at that was comfortable enough where would it be?

Thank you for your time in responding in advance.

I have only stayed on one sofa bed, Kidani 1 bedroom, I shared it with my husband for almost a week and we both agreed that it was not particularly comfortable. Many people have reported that they have been able to get a mattress topper from housekeeping and that helps. Also, there was a thread on this on the DVC Resorts board not to long ago that you might want to see if you can find.

Thank you so much. I found the thread. It is very helpful

I'd avoid the sleeper sofa unless you are under 130 pounds. Reserve an OKW studio instead where you will be ensured of getting two real queen sized beds instead of one bed and one sleeper sofa.

Thank you very much. We found that they had Poly and AKL - Savanna view available for our dates and we couldn't pass up on those for less then the cost we were going to pay for CBR. It is a dream of ours to stay at Poly so we just couldn't pass on it.

We slept on the sleeper sofa at the Poly last year and had no problems with it.

From what I've read, the Poly sleeper is a six inch mattress, whereas the others are 4 inch mattresses. So the Poly one may be completely doable. From reviews I've read, seems to be the case. The Kidani one, from personal experience, might be okay for a few nights, but not 7 nights. A foam topper might help.

I dont think you will like the sofa bed. You might look at one of the resorts that has a twin sized murphy bed {like Poly and Boardwalk}. The murphy beds are comfortable even for adults. Or, bring a blow up mattress.

And the poly also has the pull down murphy bed which is twin sized.....lots of people think it is meant only for kids but is can accommodate adults as well.

We stayed in a studio at SSR in Jan and the pullout was awful!! I requested a mattress topper and that made it very comfortable. The housekeeping manager delivered it and was not at all surprised by our request. She said the mattresses are terrible and they’re just trying to get by until their renovations bring in new sofa beds.

I am 5’11” and weigh 210, I almost always use the pullout sofa and give my guests the bed. The pullout at the poly was very comfortable over a 5 night stay, I had no issues. It’s been a while since staying at Kidani, but I don’t recall the pullout being uncomfortable there either. The only pullout I’ve had issue with was at Boardwalk Villas, but that was pre-refurb. The sofa bed since the refurb has been fine.

I've 5'11" and about 235lbs and I slept on a sofa bed at the Polynesian studio last month. It was long enough to sleep on, but it was possibly one of the most uncomfortable sofa beds I've ever slept on.

My 20something daughter - weight about 115 - finds them pretty horrible to sleep on. As an alternative, we pack an inflatable twin-sized mattress. Takes up nearly an entire suitcase, but it's a preferable alternative.

Wow I am starting to second guess my decision to go with a dream over comfort lol. Anyone ever just sleep on the couch without pulling it out?

But the OP said he is over 6' tall and weighs over 250 lbs. I do not think the pull down bed would be comfortable for him.
Denise

I read a lot of reviews on several boards about them since my son is about that size. Lots of tall people said they were fine in the reviews I read but everyone probably has to decide for them self. I will probably pack an air mattress as a back up. :)

** just to clarify - this is about the pull down murphy beds that are in some of the DVC studios :)

I have slept in the murphy beds before and I have found them more comfortable than the sofa beds and they don't take up near the space.

Wonder if the murphy bed mattress will come our of the space that it goes in as I would be afraid of the thing breaking with the amount of weight. Maybe the mattress on the ground would be ok

The DVC murphy beds are not twin sized. They are shorter and narrower than a twin. And the mattress isn't any more than the sleeper sofa.
