We're in the process of buying into DVC. We'll probably start out staying in studios so we can take more than one trip a year. I know only 1 BR & larger rooms have in-room washer/dryer. I also read that there are laundry facilities for DVC members staying in studios. One place I read said they were coin-operated machines, and another said they were complimentary.

Have you done laundry at a DVC while staying in a studio, and did you have to pay?

Thanks!

They are the coin operated machines but they have them fixed to where you dont have to pay for them,I hope that makes sense;)

Laundry was free at SSR, however I had to pay at BCV. We stayed in a studio both times.

At DVC resorts that are combined with regular Disney resorts (BWV, BCV, AKV-Jambo, VWL), there are pay laundry rooms for regular resort guests. There are separate, free laundry rooms for DVC studio guests.

At BCV the DVC laundry is on the 4th floor, not near the quiet pool as we are used to at so many other resorts (5th floor at AKV).

WOW! REALLY? I had no idea that laundry services were free for DVC members staying in a studio. We're new members. We bought in December for AKV. I assumed if you stayed in a studio, you had to pay for laundry.

This is excellent news as we like to pack light.

You would need to pay to buy soap, but the laundry machines are free. You can operate them without putting money in them.

The machines at BCV are located in the building, you don't have to go to BC. (I think if you do that you will end up paying)

Thought I would share this..... It take two drying cycles when using the dryers to get things dry. :laundy:

One thing I was disappointed in at the laundry room at OKW building #55 was that there was no folding station....no flat surface at all. I had to fold clothes on top of the washing machines. Was the building we stayed in unusual? Do other DVC resorts have an area to fold clothes? I'm spoiled by the laundry rooms at Fort Wilderness, which are excellent. There, you have a countertop to sort clothing near the washing machines and two countertops in the drying area.

That is the norm at OKW, and my only real compaint about our laundry rooms. Even a cheap plastic table would do fine.

Laundry tip...........

I bought those little disolvable packets of laundry detergent to take with us. Cheap, easy to carry.

OK, couldn't resist that little icon :sad2: ;)

There is a free laundry room for DVC guests on the 5th floor near room 5408 on the Zebra Trail very close to the lobby (the Zebra Trail is the right hand side of the horseshoe). You will need your room keycard to open the door. This laundry room is quite small and tucked away. You could walk right by it and not even notice it. Thanks go to spiceycat for providing the exact location!

Does anyone know where they are located at THE BOARDWALK? Thanks on Advance:surfweb:

We are using my parents points for 11 days at AKV in a few weeks, can we use the free machines???

Yes, anyone, even cash guests, staying in a DVC Studio can use the free laundry services.

For Bobump: laundry at BWV is on the first floor, near the main pool, just down the room corridor from Muscles and Bustles. I like to take a book and read between moving the laundry from washer to dryer.
