It baffles me. IMO, studios were designed for singles or couples. There was already so little room to move with the sofa bed open, and then they crammed an extra bed in. I can't even imagine what it's like with 5 people in there and all the beds open.
I remember when the big draw of DVC was the space.....for families tired of packing the whole crew into a small hotel room.
Yes, it seemed that when OKW opened, studios "competed" with value rooms, 1BR to moderate and 2BR to Deluxe.Seems like the tide has changed. The buy prices are so high, buyers are planning to stay in standard studios, Disney knows this so they are increasing the occupancy, building more studios to keep the sales numbers high and to increase attendance.
Next will be bunk beds.

I love it, we live two hours away so it allows us to go on more short trips. We have twins who are 7 and a five year old. It works perfectly. I can understand the point of view of people in different stages in their lives, but right now it's awesome for us.
I bought specifically to have MORE room than the traditional hotel room. Studios are worthless to me and 5 in one seems like complete overkill. But to each his own.
sorry if this was mentioned and I missed it earlier, but does anyone know if they are doing this in all of the studios? I would assume that BLT and animal kingdom value would not fit five in their studios?
