DVC studios, 5 people, will this happen?

I like the shower stall in the VGF studios, and I imagine I will feel the same way about the Poly studios. Other than those two, the other studios were not built to sleep 5 and since there are just 2 of us in a studio, I hate the new furniture set up in the older studios, especially at VWL.

We're a travel party of 6 and it's always a 2BD! I not only want to be comfortable, I want every one else to be as well! For me, more than 2, it's a one or two bedroom! A little privacy and room to spread out, it's why I bought into DVC

Everyone has a different opinion, obviously, but the studios sleeping 5 at GFV is what tipped us over the edge to finally buy DVC. (We have also stayed at all three studios that sleep 5--WL, GFV and Poly--and are eagerly looking forward to using our points soon for BWV and BCV.) For us, we are perfectly happy spending a week on top of each other in a deluxe hotel room at Disney, and there's really not much of a difference in room size or configuration between a deluxe room and a DVC studio. For me, the extra space would be nice if we stayed in a 1 or 2 bedroom villa--don't get me wrong--but I don't NEED that space, and I don't want to do laundry or cook while I'm on vacation.

I'd be very happy if all of the DVC studios were converted, but I will likely continue to keep Poly & GFV as our primary places to use points when we travel with our family of 5 due to the split bathrooms in the studios--that's a major bonus for us and is worth the premium points.

That's fine for you -- that's the product that you bought. For those of us who bought the original "4/room," it changes the product that we bought. The change to the space and the excess wear and tear shows up in how we enjoy our homes and our yearly MF.

I'm another owner who does not want all studios to sleep 5. I think it's extra wear and tear on those rooms that we will have to pay for in our annual dues. We bought into DVC in 2006 as a family of 5...after a 2005 trip where we all 5 stayed in a room at POR. The big selling point of DVC, for us, was a master bedroom to separate us from the kiddos. Yes, we did stay in 1BRs for the 1st several years of ownership and I wish they'd put the sleeper CHAIR in all the 1BRs before making the studios sleep 5. Though now that my 3 kids are all huge teens, we get a 2BR.

Unfortunately, the sleeper chair won't fit in most of the one bedroom villas because the living room isn't large enough. After OKW, they shrunk down the size of the villas.

I don't even think the sleeper chair would fit in a 1bd at SSR or BWV, their living rooms are on the small side

We love the 5 in a studio. But we typically stay 1 or 2 nights. I think it is great since getting a larger villa means more points per night and a kitchen that we don't need. We stayed 5 in a Poly studio and it was fine for us. Everyone vacations differently.

I bought specifically to have MORE room than the traditional hotel room. Studios are worthless to me and 5 in one seems like complete overkill. But to each his own.

I am the same way. I have 3 kids and as a family of 5, pre-DVC, we had to stay in a deluxe resort to sleep our brood, my choice being GF. Once we bought DVC in '93, we immediately became very spoiled to villa/condo living while on vacation. I LOVE it, and agree that while I think it's fine that the really roomy studios like Poly can do the pull down beds, I personally do NOT want to see every single DVC resort's studios finagled around to squeeze in one more bed. UGH.

I agree with others that BLT and AKV value are likely too small for this.

Everything indicates this is the path they will go through the current rounds of rehabs. We don't worry too much if it sleep 4 or 5 because it's only 2 of us in a studio. Too old to cram in with another couple.
If there is room, it doesn't bother me if it sleeps 4 or 5, but I realize it's a personal preference.

If I remember correctly, they can legally increase the number sleeping in a 1BR significantly higher than the current 4/5 (depending on resort). I believe they could legally change 1BRs to sleep up to 8 (or is it 10)? (Perhaps this is resort dependent, but I am almost positive it is in at least 1 POS).

I'll still book studios but never have more than 2 staying in them so I don't care if they are converted or not.

Hate it! Did not join to be stuffed like sardines into a studio. It is a lousy change and too bad so many are stooping to this.

We just did five at WLV...if we hadn't had the extra closet (which are only the four studios at the end of the very long hallway), we may have had trouble. But I brought a hanging shelf for the closet...five hanging spaces, which all underwear sox etc went. Each had their own drawer, and adult daughter had the otterman drawer. I am concerned on where we will put our clothes when we get to the Poly this September as we are four adults and NO DRAWERS!

I believe there are two drawers under the bed, I just saw a Disney Parks blog that appeared to show a second one access from the wall side of the bed. And there is the ottoman which is deep and would hold two large stacks of clothes.

Plus there is a single small drawer in each night stand.

Definitely take the hanging shelf again. You will probably need it.

I agree for BWV especially where the connecting door is in the living room. I have never stayed in a 1BR at SSR so can't say about it.

We tried to put a twin sized aerobed on the living room floor of a SSR one bedroom once when we invited my SIL to join us and she and our son would not be sharing the sleeper sofa. We had a heck of a time trying to make it fit.

I think 5 in a studio which was built for 5 is one thing and is fine.

What people are objecting to is studios which were built for 4 and sold as build for 4 being changed into something that works less well for people who don't have 5 to fit more people than was the original intent when sold. The loss of the proper table is something some miss and don't appreciate the addition of those table/bed thingys.
