how easy is it to get a studio at Aulani 5 months out. Thinking of September or October. Or when is an easy time ? This will be our first Hawaii visit we hope to stay 7 nights is that last night enough ?

If you're open as to what view you have I think you'll be OK but no guarantees. I know it's the 3 mos mark currently but Sept has studios available currently.

Hawaii public schools have october break from 9th-13th

We stayed the last week of September in a standard studio. We booked 10 months out, but the resort was very quiet the whole time we were there. I think that would be a slower time than October would be, since more Fall breaks tend to occur in October.
