DVC Studio Bashing

I just love to hear everyone complain about the DVC studios. That makes my life alot easier to get the reservations I want. We stay in studios every trip and spend very little time in the room. I would rather spend 2x nights in a studio than 1 night in a one bedroom.

I must say I don't like the studio at OKW. Sure it is a little bigger but I don't like the layout or the 2 queen beds. I much rather stay at BWV, WLV, or BCV studios.

Keep on with the bashing. It warms my heart to know that following my 2 week trip in Spring in a studio that I will have enough points saved for a 2 more weeks in Fall and reservations will be that much easier to get.

:bounce:

Well, I'm not sure I know what brought this little tizz on, but the beauty of the DVC is that everyone can stay in the type of room at the type of resort they like.

I've stayed in a studio and they are great. Obviously, they don't compare to a 1 or 2 BR or a GV, but they aren't supposed to! That's an "apples to oranges" comparison. If you compare a studio to a regular hotel room, the studio is far and away better.

I'll agree with SteveS on this one. ::yes::

By us staying in studios and having an AP we'll get twice the fun.

.....could you please stop bragging about the advantages of the studios. Just keep agreeing with the bashers, small, no washer & dryer, small, kids in the way, no privacy, small, no stove or oven, two queens, small, etc...

the problem with the studios lately - has been II - they obviously get alot more studios than 1 or 2 bedroom - I know the points chart does not mention studio - but they are taking them - then trading them for another II reservation that their members made with a 2-bedroom - yes I think they are crazy to accept a studio when they need a 2-bedroom - so on tug - DVC gets blasted  :)

I guess I missed the "complaint" expressed in the other thread.

My interpretation, which may be way off base, was that people were expressing why they preferred 1BRs over Studios.

Not exactly bashing, IMHO.

BTW, I'm a Studio lover too. When it's just DW and I, studios all the way.

The other thread was not a bashing of studios. We don't use studios either. Here is what I posted over on the other thread, and I think it is appropriate here as well. Each has his own preference, and that is the beauty of DVC.
I don't think it's that the studios are so bad, but that we all get pretty spoiled in the 1,2,and 3 bedroom villas! We have only stayed in a studio twice since becoming DVC members seven years ago. Both times, it was just DH and myself, and was less than a week. Both times we got terribly claustrophobic in the OKW studio. I think it is almost as much to do with lack of light as anything. While we found the bathroom size to be good and the kitchenette to work fine, it still seemed like just a bedroom to us. I didn't even realy mind the two beds, since we could sit in the straight chairs at the table, but we always use at least a 1 bedroom now.

Studios are a great way to stretch points. It's nice to have all our options. That's what makes DVC great!

We have a family of five, and have done an OKW studio in the past, but our little ones are growing and growing. Now a lot of times we bring others with us. We mostly do 2BRs...Maybe in about twelve years DW and I will do a trip on our own for an extended stay in a studio.

You know that the DVC studios are better than 90% of the regular hotel rooms at WDW resorts. And the WDW resort rooms are like better than 99% of the hotel rooms at any other hotel (expecially if you include, location, resort benefits, transportation, beauty of resort, ect). They have mics, frigs and you get free laundy right own the hall.

On 150 points, I could spend 3.5 weeks in a studio or 1.5 weeks in a 1BR. And the studio is better than 90% of the ooms at WDW and 99.9% of the rooms in Orlando.

The 1 BR is only a deal if you are bringing 6 - 8 guests.

I have never stayed in a DVC studio. That being said, I am at a loss as to what there is to bash. I would stay in one in a second if I needed to stretch points.
As said earlier in this thread, it is nice that there are different options for different people.

That is my pet peeve with 1 Bedroom. I happen to like the washer & Dryer and cooking options if we are more than 2 or 3 people but the 1 bedroom does not give you any xtra occupancy just extra space.

1Bdrm is still 4 guest (+1 under 3) you need a 2 Bdrm for the larger occupancy.

you need privacy, the bathrooms have doors on them:blush:

I am for studios::yes::

I'm so glad to hear you say that. We're new owners and can't make our first reservations until Dec. 1st, but we want to go in May. We're crossing our fingers for 2 studios at BCV...we want to save enough points for another trip in December. I'm so glad to hear that people do enjoy Studios.

I am glad for the studio option and may use it some day, but due to our youngest daughter's illness we have to have a kitchen. With seven of us we stay in a 2BR and love it.

If we didn't need a kitchen I'm not sure we would have joined DVC.

Anyway, I'm very happy to own at OKW. It is perfect for us. :wave2:

It gives the freedom and flexibility to choose the acomodations that best suit your needs. I love them all!!!

DH & I just returned today from our first stay in a BWV studio & thought it was perfect for the 2 of us. We loved having the bed & then the couch. When we were back at the room DH sat on the couch & caught up on all the sports he was missing & I sat on the porch & read. I can't say I would get anything bigger than that for the 2 of us.

I do have to say that I prefer having the couch & one bed instead of the 2 beds they have at OKW. It seems more like a little efficiency unit instead of a hotel room. Can't say I would book the studio at OKW - I prefer the other lay out. JMO!!

I agree with InstImpres - I think they should make the 1BR units sleep 6, but that is a sore subject with many DVC owners. We have 5 in our family & think it would be nice to have the kitchen/living area with the "studio room" instead of the master BR, but that is just our opinion. :o

) for the "1 night" we are OKW before our cruise

in feb. Can't see getting a 1BR.....especially since we don't arrive until 2:00 pm.
I think a lot of DVC members prefer the 1BR over the stuidio if they are there for more than 3-4 days, and have at least 3 or more people.

An easy fix it to change the occupancy of the studios to 2 people. :rotfl:

I haven't taken my first DVC trip yet, but hoping to use my SSR points for an August trip. After reading many different responses to this question is part of the exact reason for my comming home to DVC. There are enough options for everyones needs. No right or wrong just a matter of choice (or number of points). So many choices and ways to go. This is exactly what sets DVC apart from the rest in my opinion.

So far I've only stayed in Studios. OKW and BWV. I enjoyed both. I think that they are by far better than the average motel room at Disney. I've only stayed at the moderate and values though. I have stayed at some very nice Hotels outside of Orlando area though and Condos. And I must say the studios are very nice motel rooms with a little extra. So if you can stay in a small space for a week or two. Why not. Unless you are into cooking the kitchen is wasted in a 1 bdr. If there is only two of you. Sure more points for later. More trips. If you don't have 500 points. Some folks only have 150-200 points they need to spend them with more thought of the next trip (points how manys left). JMO

I will be staying in a 1bdr the next two trips. Only two of us most times. So studios are great. Next trip Anniversary splurging on whirlpool tub in case its cold January LOL.
After that taking friends to Vero Yeah.. Heh they get the couch. Thats terrible isn't it.

July:tongue::wave:
