I know it's an option to stay at WDW hotels, but I wonder how many DVC members actually do? I see the advantage of staying at one of the DVC locations as being able to "save" money by cooking more food at the resort, but...I'm not sure we would utilize that aspect.

What do you think about staying at the DVC locations versus WDW resorts?

And how do the prices compare?

From what I can see, the resorts are more expensive (point wise) than the DVC properties. I suspect that's due to the housekeeping costs more than anything.

We love Caribbean Beach, but can't see using more points for it than AKV

It would be about double the points to stay at a non DVC moderate resort than staying at a DVC resort. Now a Deluxe non DVC resort would be alot more than double the points.
If you dont plan on staying at the DVC resorts you are going to be losing alot of money by staying at the Non DVC resorts.

and since they recently added a $95 booking fee to stay at a wdw hotel, i suspect even fewer DVC members will choose to use their pts that way.

as has been stated, DVC studios are MUCH cheaper than staying at a wdw hotel...and 1BRs are MUCH bigger.

cooking, is there a kitchen in the villa :rotfl: :rotfl2:

DVC negotiates the rate with Disney every year, so it can continue to go up each year. Pretty much has since I've been watching it. Plus add that $95 fee that chalee94 mentioned. When you can get a DVC studio for less than a moderate, that's a big stopper to many members. And once you make that reservation, you can't cancel it and use the points for a DVC reservation. They have become reservation points and you are only able to use them for non-DVC Disney reservations.
