Has anyone used points for a stay at the Frenchmens Reef Marriott in St Thomas. This is a participating hotel. Wondering if you know what points you need? Thanks!

If it's in the Wold Passport Collection than I believe the points is 160 for 1 week in peak season (1 bedroom). I understand that these can be very difficult to book and you need to book 18 - 24 months in advance

It's very hard to get any Caribbean location because they're so popular. We tried 6 locations and gave up at the 7 month and booked a DVC resort we wanted to try anyway. If it becomes available, it probably won't be until a few months before the travel date. And then airfare will be a fortune. So I'm pretty down on II exchanges right now.

BTW - we stayed at Morningstar Beach in Feb, and saw the timeshares going up. They have a great view of the harbor, but you'll need to take a shuttle to go to the "bigger" beach at Marriott and hang out at the lounges at Frenchmen's Reef.

Thanks for the replies! Marie, how difficult was it to obtain the time you wanted? You say it is not worth it?

Check out the threads on II, and you'll see that it's very difficult to use in popular destinations. We selected 8 resorts in Caribbean and south FL for 4 different months in 2009. At the 6 month mark, we gave up. My understanding is that you might have a chance during off peak if you can wait to just a few months before departing.
