New Journeys January WISH 2026

TP did not even occur to me! My immediate thought was one battery from every non-emergency device (leave the fire alarm, take the tv remote) and all but one of each kind of charger…cause some chaos if 6 devices need a usb c and you only have one cord

The snow seems to be over here for the moment (though I heard we may get walloped again next weekend.) I went out today and moved the car that hadn't been used yet, cleaned up that part of the driveway, and dug out the mailbox. Decided to not to do major errands until tomorrow, though.

I adore Jennifer Coolidge! Side note: Two summers ago, Kamala Harris was attending an event in Provincetown, MA while we were in North Truro, MA on vacation. It was an exciting experience because her motorcade drove by while we were on the beach. Many famous people who supported her were also there. It explained some of the unusually expensive cars we saw on our way to our resort on the Cape. My daughter was in Provincetown with her boyfriend and she saw many of these people, one of whom was Jennifer Coolidge who was sitting at the next table where she was having dinner. I, of course, missed out on all of the sightings because DH and I grilled dinner on the beach that evening.

WOO HOO is a bit of a stretch for me since I threw my back out yesterday. I’m in terrible pain. So my WOO HOO is for having lots of sick days so I can take whatever I need to heal. That’s not the case for many people, my DD being one of them.

Woohooing that I get to work from home. We have not left the house since Friday. School districts are on there 3rd or 4th day off (half of the districts were closed last friday as well) and I am guessing they will be closed the next 2 days as well. We will be -15 and -13 wind chill the next 2 days. Schools close at -15. We won't be above 20 until Monday. This is the coldest we have ever been for so long.

Here is the Trivia Question from Fox 8 News (local to here. do do one every morning)

What is the only city to be above 55 today:

A. Seattle
B. LA
C. Key West
D. Dallas

Answer --
Key West

I know our temps are warming up to the 50's, so I'll say Seattle.

Woohoo... for no particular reason, this morning I decided to try on a pair of black dress pants that have been hanging in the closet since summer. I never even tried them on because they looked kind of small and was thinking of returning them, but they fit!

Woohoo... I have next Monday off for a midday doctor appointment up in my old town. I'm planning on also getting lunch and doing a long walk on the beach. I've decided to also take PTO Friday to participate in the general strike, so that will make for a badly needed long weekend. And part of Friday will be staying off of social media, so I'm going to make it an analog day, which is kind of intriguing.

And woohoo... I got my hair cut and colored last weekend, this time I had her put in more low lights and I love it.

I thought it was LA because I know Florida is pretty cold right now.

Today is ending up not so great. I have been feeling off since last Thursday but was fine. I rested over the weekend and thought I was good. I ended up taking a half day PTO yesterday for a bad headache. I ended up sleeping for 4 hours and still went to bed by 10. I work up this morning again with a headache and now I am sick to my stomach. DH took all of yesterday off for feeling sick. I think we picked something up. I would really like to crawl back in bed and sleep more.

I am thankful that I have a warm home in which to recover from my back injury. A week ago, our furnace broke. DD noticed immediately when she got home from work and called the oil company. By the time I got home from my second job, they were finishing up and we had heat ahead of the huge snowstorm. If it had happened in the middle of the blizzard, I don’t know when we would’ve gotten help, and with temperatures in the single digits, our pipes could have froze.

I am thankful for my amazing adult daughter. She has surpassed ALL of my dreams and expectations. She is a very successful creative executive…a firm yet compassionate boss. She travels the world ALONE without fear (maybe some but she hides it well). She is a wonderful daughter and I just love her so much.

I’m thankful for my two jobs even though teaching in this time period is quite challenging, I still find pockets of joy, and I really do LOVE my students to pieces. I think that’s why I get so upset by my violent student. I don’t want him to hurt them or traumatize them, and I know it’s not purposeful on his part, but he is doing damage to others. So I guess it’s downtown that I am mad at. Anyway, I will continue to do my best to give all of my students my absolute best.

I am thankful that I have the ability to check myself when I feel like I am getting out of control. This girl loves to celebrate with food, and I certainly did that over the holidays and during our snowstorm and snow days. There’s nothing wrong with celebrating as long as I know when to stop, and I do. My issue is stress-eating. Today I take accountability for it. I’m back to eating healthy and logging my food on My Fitness Pal. I was in a great place in late August which was my last log in. Then school started, and you know the rest.

My guess is Dallas. I think it's supposed to be 57 here today. But it'll be cold again this weekend.

It was Key West. They were the warmest yesterday. I so want to take a vacation to somewhere warm right now. We are on at least day 6 of negative wind chills and we have at least another 2 days of this. Our regular temp will be in the 20's next week. It will be a heatwave for us. I am just ready to not be so cold all the time. I am still cold with my heating blanket.

Since returning to the office this week I've started having leg issues again. I'm thankful that I realized part of the problem is my desk chair and grateful that a different style was readily available to switch to. I'm also thankful that something shifted last evening and they feel better today.

I've been wanting to knit a red hat, and I'm thankful that I found red yarn in my stash and I started on it last night.

Thankful for a warm house and a working snowblower
Thankful for the doctor working with DD and for the medication she will eventually be on that should help with her adhd
