DVC Standard Room?

What would be considered a “standard room” (excluding the sizes)?

When I make reservations at BCV I always request non smoking, floor number, non handicap and a view. I would believe that DVC has a “standard room” and that anyone who wanted anything different would request there desire. It seems that I always get one of the request…non smoking, and when I ask about any of the others I’ve been told that the goal is to satisfy at least one of the request. I have found one way to minimize the number of my request by finding a floor that has no smoking rooms so I end up getting the floor and a non smoking room using one request.

I must say that I have been overall very fortunate in receiving the reservation request and that the only one not granted on occasion was the EPCOT view, which is no longer on the requested view options.

As far as I know, only BWV offers "standard view". Preferred view includes promenade, pool, or garden view.

None of the other DVC resorts differentiate "standard" or "preferred". Points are the same no matter what your view.

I think I understand what you are asking, DVC Grandpa. I think most people would be happy with a non-handicapped, non-smoking room as a standard. Then you start tacking on pool view/garden view or higher floor, lower floor. And, finally, get people who want Rm 254.

Deb & Bill, your exactly on the mark. I was would like to ask for a view or a floor and know that I don’t have to think that I may get a smoking room or a handicap room. For those who desire such rooms should request it upon making the reservation. In this computer age, your desired request should be verified as you make your reservations or you should be told what is available if it is not considered a “standard room” ie non smoking and non handicap. I believe that all guest would like to know just what kind of room you are going to spend your time in prior to arrival rather than find out after you have checked in.
