We have a split stay for our upcoming visit in October. On the day of our Halloween Party, we are switching from Animal Kingdom Lodge to Bay Lake. Does anyone know how long it takes for your luggage to arrive? I am nervous that we won't have our luggage (costumes) in time to head to the party in MK around 5 or 6.

If you plan to head to the party at 5 or 6, you must be counting on having your room before that - which might or might not happen. As Plan B, I’d suggest bringing your costumes with you (you could check a small bag with Bell Services) and being prepared to change in the locker rooms at the pool.

I would take an uber with my luggage to the new resort in the morning, and leave my luggage with bell services at the new resort. That way you can have your luggage as soon as your room is ready. If your room isn’t ready, have costumes all in one bag so you can get to them easily.

Completely agree! More than worth the cost to know your luggage is at the resort and available to you as soon as your room is ready. I'd still pack the costumes in a small separate bag in case your room isn't ready when you expect it. That way, worst case, you can change by the pool and return the bag to Bell Services.

Hope you get your room early! Have fun at the party.

I always thought that rooms were ready by 4:00 p.m.?

Most are, but the current policy is "after 4 pm". Sometimes, rooms aren't ready by 4, but that is not the norm.

I too recommend either taking Uber with all the luggage, or just with the costumes so you can leave them at Bell Services. We once had luggage transfer and there was an error and it never got done. They had to send someone to get it from BWV to bring to BLT, so by the time we did get it, it was after 6:00 pm.

We just came back and we used Lyft (not the Minnie Vans) and found them pretty reasonable to get around!

Though not the norm it does happen. I moved from AKV to the Poly earlier this month and still had no room at 5:30. Thankfully I convinced the front desk to start making calls and finally got a room at 6.

Not the norm but not worth taking a chance on a party night I think.

For this, I’d move my bags by Uber/Lyft, so you can easily access them at your new resort’s bell services whenever you want them and get ready at either the pool bathrooms or lobby if your room isn’t ready. We recently stayed DVC and our room wasn’t ready until a bit after 4pm.

If you have room in a big backpack or stroller you could instead take everything you need and just keep it with you and use the resort transfer for everything else.

Our bags were at our new resort by 4pm with our recent split stay.

Sometimes our bags have been there by 4pm, but other times not until 6-ish. I agree with others that you should at least pack your costumes in one bag and take them to your new resort your self.

Have a great time at the party!

All the ideas are correct. When we have done a split stay, our luggage has been there when we got back to the room, but that was always later in the evening.
If you have items that you need, either:
Take the luggage with you to the new resort and have bell services hold it for you or
Put the items you need in a small suitcase that you can have bell services hold for you until you need it and have Disney bring your luggage.
You also could take your costumes with you in a backpack (if they fit) and keep it in a locker until you need them and let Disney transfer the rest of your luggage.

Definitely, either Uber over or bring the costumes that you will need IN CASE. We do split stays all the time. We prefer to Uber over; don't want to wait till late in day for luggage.:scared1:.no guarantees. Enjoy!:goodvibes
