I just posted this as a reply in another thread, but I thought it was worth making its own separate thread also. I've been a long time lurker on these forums and it's full of so much great info but I didn't see this anywhere so I wanted to register and post it for people to see (the people on this forum are great, by the way, some of the most friendly message board discussions I've seen anywhere).

According to the e-mail I received (about a half hour ago), there are going to be four special webcast events for promoting DVC on June 10, 11, and 13, and the e-mail promises "incredible offers available only during this unique webcast." I can't imagine offers being much better than the current incentives but I guess it's possible...

I can't post the link from the e-mail because my post count is less than 10 :confused3, so if someone else got the same e-mail, post the link here.

I haven't received any email about a web cast at this point. However, earlier this week my guide made an odd comment when I was emailing about something else. She said

"Also- on a side note, the vacation planners have finally been sent. Expect to receive yours any day now."

I have no idea what this vacation planner is and didn't even know they were expected. Guess I'll see if something comes in the mail.
:confused3

Ah! And here I just thought nothing about getting all of the information online!?!?! Never even considered being notified about anything by mail.

Yeah. I'm semi-intrigued by this concept, but I can't imagine how the "incredible offers" will be much better than the current $14-16+ per point you can get now. At least the first event is June 10 and the current offer expires June 15, so I guess there will be some time to compare if you've already gotten things started with your guide (can they turn a contract around through mail in five days? I can't really see that happening, especially considering June 13/14 is the weekend...).

Once you tell your guide that you want to do a contract and start the process, you are locked into the incentives. And, until your contract closes, you can make changes so if a new incentive comes out that is better, you can ask to have the deal changed.

Many of us did this when the newest incentives were released on April 1st. It will be interesting to see what happens in these podcasts. I am doing another BLT add on and was going to start the process next week. But may wait to see if I get this invitation so that I can compare.

It'd have to be something pretty special to entice me to buy. Not interested in BLT or AK at all. Might be interesting to listen in.

Me too. I went ahead and signed up. Not really interested in adding on at this point but should be intriguing nonetheless.

UNLESS, of course, they offer an outstanding incentive...say, a 30%+ point discount.
It's Disney...I can dream, can't I?

Adventures by Disney did this a couple months ago. There was a one-hour(?) life webcast (maybe it was a little shorter, can't remember) that featured a speaker talking about ABD with videos and slide show showing some of the countries and attractions you can visit with ABD. There was also a question-and-answer period afterwards where you could type in your questions or comments and receive immediate answers, like instant messaging. I signed up for that and received some ABD information by regular mail after the webcast.
I think I'll sign up for this new one, just in case there is a too-good-to-be-true offer made during the webcast. :thumbsup2 Hopefully I can sign up without receiving a direct invitation. I'll call the toll free number tomorrow and ask about it.

My understanding is that the web cast is targeted at people who have contacted DVC but never purchased. This is a inexpensive way to advertise to potential buyers with the hope of making new sales.

I knew you could change incentives if something better came around before you closed the contract, but I wasn't aware that you were locked into the incentives once you start the process even if you started right before they changed. Good to know! :wizard:

I'll definitely be watching. Hopefully there will be an extra incentive that will get DH to purchase our BLT add-on now!

I just talked to our Guide about doing an Add-On contract, and I brought up the special webcast scheduled for June 11, 12, & 13. He said that two Guides will put on a live presentation at Hollywood Studios about DVC. The presentation is geared toward recruiting new members, and will explain how DVC works. He said it will be much like the presentation made to people who visit the DVC showroom.

I asked him about the incentives that might be offered with the webcast. Our Guide said he knew there would be incentives, but would not comment whether the webcast would have anything new or better than what is already available.

When I asked if the webcast might talk about add-on contracts, our Guide specifically stated that they are not addressing add-ons during the webcast.

Since I had our Guide on the phone, I asked how sales were going. He said that BLT is generating about 70 percent of the sales over AKV and SSR. Our Guide thinks that, come June 15th, DVD will decease the incentive on BLT so that there is a wider cost spread between BLT and the other resorts. Also, he made an interesting comment about the add-on incentives. Our guide mentioned that the incentives that apply with 100+ point add-ons (namely, the "free" cruise) might go away sooner because the Guides have been told they will probably offer the cruise incentive for only another 400 contracts.

If this is true (and it sounds feasible), then I'd be willing to bet that the "incredible offers" are simply what they are making available right now, since these people might not be aware of them. I'm not convinced that the deals are going to be any better. If DVC is selling as well as DVD is claiming, there would be no incentive to "sweeten" the deal.
