On mobile not sure if this has been posted already but posting to give a heads up. I am floored after calling MS today to purchase the special DVC 199 tickets for my sons family.

Turns out that the member now must be in attendance for the tix to be used. I had at least two phone conversations with MS when offer first released along with a screen shots of conversations with MS. Each time told I could buy these for my family or friends and didn't need to be along on trip with them to use.

Was told today erroneous information had been given out. Insisted on speaking to a supervisor and told DVCs stance is there isn't a problem since anybody who did purchase them as I intended would be reimbursed to their form of payment when the tix would attempt to be utilized without member being present

Ridiculous

The supervisor said the ticketing department is the one imposing this restriction and DVC has to follow their lead. They will not stand by the information they gave out in error.

Was also told it didn't matter if the tix were assigned to family not listed on contract via MD E. It was referenced as the deal being only for a member at WDW and their guests during that trip and...

If the member is not present the tix will not be valid, akin to an AP pickup

is this for 1st usage or all 4 days? sort of a pain to have to all stay together? what if some want to hit the parks @ 9am and DVc member is not going until noon?

I was told that if the 4 Day Special DVC tickets are linked to a magic band, the member does not have to be present??????

Has something changed???:confused3
I called at least a FEW times to verify this information before I purchased tickets????

Has SOMETHING CHANGED????:confused3 Thanks VERY MUCH for clarification!:thumbsup

I called MULTIPLE TIMES different MS DVC about the 4 day promo ticket since I was buying them for 2 other couples!
If the tickets were linked to a magic band, no need for member to be present is what I was told!
Was I given INCORRECT INFO???:confused3
TIA!:)

I understand you are frustrated and upset, but can you please slow down and be a little more clear about how this exactly happened? Did they get stopped when they tried to enter the park, or were they trying to pick up the tickets at guest services? We're the tickets already associated with their magic bands?

DisK yes I was appRantly given both oral and written incorrect information on several occasions by DVC. Silly me to take their word over members here

Was told member only has to be at parks when tix are first used despite having tix linked to MDE

I suggest anybody who had purchased for others and won't be with them on the trip contact member services

Something doesn't pass the sniff test here. Nothing to do with the OP. I believe what you were told, however; I don't believe it's good information.

A ticket is a ticket. They don't check IDs at the turnstyles, and while a ticket most certainly can be linked to a MB, they certainly don't have the facilities to make sure one person has passed before another can enter.

It doesn't even sound enforceable to me. We shall see, but something sounds screwey to me.

Became NERVOUS about this information...:eek::eek:

I asked MS to call Ticketing to see if there was any policy change..

There is NO policy change!:thumbsup2 As long as the DVC ticket is linked to a Magic Band, there is NO NEED for the DVC member to be present.:thumbsup2 IF the user does not have a magic band, then the DVC member needs to be present to pick up a "hard ticket", something like the old key to the world card...

MS did say in the UNLIKELY event of a magic band not working to allow entry, then the member needs to present membership card and proper identification when they go to Guest Services to figure out the problem..

HAPPY that the policy is as I was explained by a few MS agents. We will be in the parks anyway with our relatives, but if an unforeseen emergency comes up that we cannot go on the trip, I didn't want our relatives to have a problem with us not there.

Have your family if they are staying offsite purchase MB's! Solves the problem of a HARD TICKET!:)
GOOD LUCK!:cheer2:

Now that makes sense and I think that's where the confusion is.

As I stated I am just relaying what I was told by a supervisor I spoke to today when warned by original cm that I had to be present

I was one of the earliest to use these tix and thought them to be of great value as to how they could be assigned on one's MDE account.

It bothered me to be told they wouldn't stand by what I was told in October despite acknowledging that certain CMs made mistakes.

I am taking the supervisor at her word. She stated that using a magic band won't prevent the tix needing to be verified as a discounted tix offer Exactly how they can accomplish this has me stumped

There is no way I would ever take the chance of my family having an issue upon their arrival. I ordered tix from UT & added another day onto the tix. At least my family can visit the same park twice or more

I suggest anybody with concerns to call. Disney is well known for doling out different answers to the same question.

I did question the supervisor why the website is so vague as to details of this offer and was told my concerns had been noted.

I ordered these tickets online through the link on the MS website. They were automatically linked to my MDE account AND I had the option of having hard tickets mailed to me. So, I did just that. I now have these tickets linked to our Magic Bands AND we have hard tickets. So, you could order the tickets online and get the hard tickets mailed just in case.

I'm confused by your latest post. Are you upset because you've been told two different things now, or did you actually experience a problem trying to enter the gate with these tickets?

It seems the majority of members here thought you'd need to activate the tickets, the same way a member has to activate a DVC annual pass on first use. But there's been at least one report of linking these tickets to a MagicBand and walking straight through the turnstiles with no issue or activation. Do you have a contradictory experience, or did a CM just tell you something different?

Is the OP trying to get friends tickets for a time when you will not be at WDW? I would understand confusion if Member Services was not clear on the DVC members travel plans.

to answer your question

it was fact of being given erroneous information several times since tix deal was announced, along with the fact that MS said they were well aware incorrect information was provided to many members. :rolleyes1

At the very least the website should've immediately been updated with clear & concise information once they were aware of the inconsistencies in I information their CMs were disbursing.

UT tix are in hand, now the issue is at 12:01 am today, there were no Anna & Elsa meet & greet spots open for 5 days beginning 2/2:crazy2:

Well, I just did an online chat with an MS rep 5 minutes ago and was told that the DVC member must be with the guests.

I am not taking a chance on buying them for friends of mine based on that, especially since my friends won't be staying on property and won't have magic bands.

I'd love to hear from someone who has purchased for others and has confirmation that those people had no issues getting in without a DVC member present for the first use.

This ISN'T ROCKET SCIENCE Member Services; pretty SIMPLE concept!
I called about four times and WAS told that linking it to a MAGIC BAND in 99% of the cases works! If your friends are offsite, they could always purchase a MB on line at the Disney Store...
Ridiculous...MS should COMMUNICATE CONSISTENT POLICY!:(:furious:

I think Member Services is communicating what the rules say, but how it actually plays out is different. We've already had first-hand reports that the dvc member does not need to be present if the tickets are linked to you MDE and you have magic bands.

Do you remember the thread where someone reported that someone they bought for was able to use them simply by having them linked prior to the Magic Band???

I'd feel much better about possibly trying this if I could read that!!!

I have been told by a few MS reps and I also called the number for My Disney Experience and all said as long as it is linked to a magic band, it functions like any other ticket!

HOPE SO!:thumbsup2
We will be at WDW at the same time as the people we bought them for, but "just in case" my trip was cancelled for any emergency, didn't want there to be any problems! They are staying off site and purchased a magic band, they have already "linked" the tickets, FP selections made.:)
