DVC Sites?

I just booked a site for March 21 for 6 nights using our DVC points. This is our 3rd time doing this but I am confused about what type of site we are getting this year. In the past, DVC members received preferred sites. Our first year we were in the 300 loop and last year we were in the 500 loop. We always have to have a pet loop.

I questioned member services about this but they seem clueless on what we get this year. Just curious if any other DVC members have used points yet this year.

Can't really help you with the current type since we have not stayed on points in a while, but like you when we did it was a Preferred Site. Right now we are just waiting for Feb. 8th for the THV booking to open up.:thumbsup2

We've stayed three times on points and alway got the prefered ( top end ) sites. I believe you can ask for any type of site but the new premium site is what the points are valued at.

I called member services back today and was told they only show preferred and full hook up sites in their inventory for DVC members. I was told I am getting a full hook up site because no preferred were showing available. Member Services could not verify what loops will be considered full hook up now. Not sure now that it was worth my 67 points for 6 nights.

I'm not DVC, but my understanding is that it is usually better to rent your points and pay cash for the campsite.

The going rate for points is $10 per point so I may have rented them for $670. I am not sure what. A full hookup would rent for then for 6 nights with tax butmy guess it would be aboutthe same.

Full Hookup rates by season are:
Value........Jan 1 - Feb 12....$57 $57 $59
.............Aug 9 - Nov 18....$57 $57 $59
Regular......Apr 19 - Aug 8....$78 $80 $80
Peak.........Feb 13 - Apr 18...$89 $91 $91
Pre-Holiday..Nov 19 - Dec 17...$61 $63 $63
Holiday......Dec 18 - Dec 31...$99 $101 $101

The first figure being weekdays, the second being weekends, the third recognized holidays.

So if you are going during Peak or Holiday seasons the difference is pretty negligible, Value or Regular though and it might be worth the hassle.

We are going during peak so it is pretty much as wash. The weekends are the rough ones. DVC charges us 17 points on a Friday or Saturday night. The week days are not bad at 10 points per night.

i guess we should be glad we don't get the $95 fee charged at least. I am wondering what the 2010 point charts will be like for the fort. everyone is complaining that week nights went UP and weekends went down for the dvc resorts; i wonder about the disney collection point cost. it really isn't cost effective to use at the fort, but it sure is convenient.

i do believe points are good for any site that you request, incl. premium sites. I'm sure if you request a certain loop, you will get it if it's available. Using points is like paying top dollar at the fort. i wish they'd give DVC their own loop, lol. or better yet, we can buy our own site and rent it out, lol. :rotfl:

I requested the 500 loop that we had last year but it is a premium loop this year so we will see if we get it. I agree that a DVC loop would be great. I would definitely do an add on if they sold points at FW. You are right on the $95 fee.

I wondered about that too...not that we have bought an RV yet (came close this weekend, but when they started to pressure Toby to buy, he told them never mind and we walked out). I looked online and the 2010 DVC resort points were listed but nothing for places outside of DVC.

I am glad to see some folks are happy with booking @ FW on DVC I want to do this over the 4th of July in 2010 but might need to book 2 or 3 sites, is 7 months the earliest I can call? This will be a sweet 16 birthday present for someone so we want to get it right.
