I spoke to a DVC sales person today about potentially buying into DVC. He asked when we would be interested in buying. I told him I didn't expect him to confirm or deny anything but we stayed at CR for our July trip and I was waiting to find out what they were going to do with the nice, new, big building they were building. He told me he recommended I call back and talk with him on a certain date and also told me to stick with that date because "they expected those to move quickly". In the meantime he will send me more information to further my research. Hmmm... I don't want to post the date...greedy I guess...sorry. Cindy

I think it will greatly depends upon the price per point and the economy as to how quickly they move the "new, undisclosed building." There will certainly be quite a few points available , if the entire building goes DVC, and not partly cash convention suites.

Don't you love the wonderful world of Disney. Only Disney could have all of these DVC Members and future members biting at the bit to spend their hard earned cash on a resort that no one has seen yet. They are good at what they do!:thumbsup2

Yes. If you posted that date, you might get locked out because everybody else would have called before you. :rotfl2:

I have no idea if there is any truth to the high pricing rumors we've seen, but does anyone really think that Disney will price this thing such that you need to circle a date on your calendar to have a shot at buying?

Granted we don't know how many rooms will be DVC. But unless it's 15 rooms at $90 per point, I THINK they will be selling for at least a few months.

(And as a shareholder, I certainly HOPE Disney knows better than that. Heck, just as a theme park fan, I hope so. Maybe raising the price a dollar or two will allow them to fund nightly Fantasmic showings next year. :rolleyes1 )

It won't matter whether you post it or not as DVC will announce the dates sales will start ahead of time. If you're not an owner already, it likely won't matter as DVC has routinely offered sales to existing owners ahead of sales to new owners for at least the last 4 properties. I doubt it'll sell that quickly if they announce it this year and I certainly doubt it'll sell out just on sales to existing members but you never know.

I am just reporting what was told to me. I personally believe if WDW wants to stay in the DVC business and entertainment industry during this 'down' time they'd want to bring in new customers. Of course, I'm not a business person, I'm in health care, nor am I a DVC owner yet. If they want to 'lock me out' by selling to only current owners, se la vie, and I'll keep my money.

Again, if the entire building is DVC, there will be plenty of points available for both existing members and new members. They have always had a short window of "members only" sales when new resorts open before the sales go to non-members.

Why the attitude? They were just saying that you posting the date does not matter because DVC will announce ahead of time and usually DVC members are given a few days ahead to purchase. They aren't going to sell out in a week. It's not like you are going to be "shut out."

They didn't open to existing members only for BCV. We were brand new members and bought on the first day sales opened. We had contacted our guide ahead of time and he called us that morning to make the purchase.

I agree with everyone. No need to worry about being "locked out."

I"m not sure greedy is the best word. ;)

It's good business to get you to return for a possible sale later if you're not going to buy now. It's not necessarily that DVC is trying to shut you out but that they have sold the last few resorts to a select group FIRST, either to current owners or in the case of DL, to those that are physically there. You'd only be shut out if this happened and it sold out during that time, possible but not likely. If so, DVD won't care because their goal is to sell, not necessarily to one specific person.

I am a DVC member and please feel free to take my "special offer" to buy at this place.

No offense to those who love the idea of the new place. I just don't understand the frenzy over this.

We honestly were going to wait to sign with the new DVC at the CR, but with the program they offered, we decided to go ahead and buy. Now I can't buy into it because my cash flow is not great enough for that. But, my friend is part of Saratoga and she always stays at OKW because she likes it. So, Just because I have AKV, does not mean I can't stay there if I want to. I have a goal to stay at every resort and DVC is helping me do that. My points are good and will stay where ever I want if there is an opening.
