DVC rooms too plain?

With the rumors of a new DVC resort, I'm just wondering.....Am I the only one who feels DVC Villas are too plain? When I go on vacation I don't want to feel "at home". I want to feel like I'm in a luxury 5 star hotel , but the DVC rooms definently don't have that feeling. I love my DVC membership but I wish the rooms where a bit nicer. For example look at the BWI rooms compared to the BWV studio. Why do we have a bedspread and the BWI has comforters? The rooms at BWI are stunning while the villas are nothing special. I want 1000 thread count sheets and down comforters!..lol..This seems the case for all villas compared to the deluxe hotel rooms. Don't get me wrong I'm glad we both into DVC and look forward to many years of going to WDW but I want to stay in a deluxe villa. I hope Disney takes this into consideration during their next DVC refurb or new resort.

I agree. Does DVC ever send out surveys before they do rehabs on the resorts to find out what members want?

By contrast, those cash guests are paying substantially more per room night than DVCers. To add 1000 thread count sheets and real down filled comforters, who do you think would want the increased dues to pay for them?

If you didn't want to feel at "home" when your away on Disney vacations, then why did you buy into DVC? I think the DVC rooms are just fine at every location myself.

Also, I think your standards are off, even Disney's flagship cash resort, Grand Floridian is not a 5 star resort, closer to a low 4 star resort.

If you want a 5 star style timeshare, look to Ritz Carlton.

The point of DVC is for it to make it feel like your home away from home and that is what they do.

I bought into DVC because like most members my family travels to WDW often and it was the best deal for us. I'm not wanting to start a disagreement by my thread. I'm just pointing out that the deluxe resort hotels room are much nicer than the DVC Villas as far as decor.

You won't find a full sized kitchen, dish washer, washer and dryer in a W Hotel Room either. I'll take the DVC instead of the W.

You could always get an Owner's Locker and keep your 1000 ct sheets and down comforter in there!

Frankly, I don't know why you purchased DVC if you didn't want to have a timeshare villa. if a hotel room is what you want, you can always pay for it. As for me, I want my dues to remain lower, so I don't want any "fluff" items. Besides...a feather comforter would just give me an asthma attack.

I like the DVC resorts as they are. I like the coziness. I would prefer comforters (preferably down alternative) to bedspreads because they are lighter weight. Otherwise I'm happy with the current furnishings.

BWI must have been refurbished since we stayed there. The furnishings in the BWI room we had weren't much different from those in BWV rooms. This was a couple of years ago though so it sounds like they have done some redecorating since then.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I find the SSR villas to be as nice as any Disney Deluxe resort and I have stayed in all of them, including suites.

The only resort with sheets of a higher count is the Grand Floridian and as Chuck said that comes with a big price.

Comforters or bedspreads they come off as soon as we get there, so what they use it not important to me.

Bay Lake Towers got the newer bedding with the comforter/duvet cover. So it is possible eventually all DVC will go to that.

Most 5 star hotels offer 800 thread count, 1000 count would be reserved for the Presidental suite, which I think is somewhat unrealistic for a timeshare.

Another DVC owner that is happy with feeling "at home" in my Villa. Don't get me wrong, I love deluxe as well. But it is not what I bought, nor is it what I expect or even want for DVC.
When I want deluxe, I book a deluxe hotel.

Maybe some get confused because Disney charges similar rack rates for DVC resorts as their Deluxe hotels.

Of course they do that mainly as a selling point for DVC ... "See how much you are saving!".

While I like the fancy resorts, I also am very happy with DVC quality. I don't particularly want the dues to go up for decorating or bedding reasons.
While I have only stayed at OKW and AK, I did find the AK room to be "higher" end. Maybe it's a matter of choosing which DVC resorts to stay in to get the fancier feel?
