I would like to make a room request for a stay we have booked next March at BLT. Normally, I call and have member services add it to my reservation, but the phone wait times seem very long now. I just now went to the email area on the DVC website under contact us and submitted my request for our reservation number and the dates we are staying. Do you all think this will be just as effective as calling (I have had very good luck with that in the past), or should I just follow up the email request with a call. Do they email you back any kind of confirmation that they received the request? (I do realize that it is only a request.) Also, for future reference do you know if it would have been possible to make the request using the new chat option on the website? Thank you.

I have had MS add requests via a phone call and some never got added to the reservation.

I have since used the website contact form and have always had those requests added.

Thanks for the advice, I gave it a try myself!

I used the website contact form MS last week with a room request and they got back to me with 48 hours. We shall see next week if the request was added to our reservation. (Whether we get the request is a different story.) If the request is there, I definitely might be phoning MS less often and using the website contact form.

I used the email link on the website to make my first ever (15 years) room requests -- upper floor, near a stairwell. I received an email confirmation that they'd received it; I never saw anything on my reservation to indicate that it was on there but that may have been that I just don't know where to look. Once I got here and my room was ready, I discovered that both requests were filled -- not their problem I decided being on the 5th floor was a couple of flights of stairs more than I really wanted to go up/down! :rotfl:

I generally send requests via email and have had no issues in doing so.

Have a great trip and I hope you get your request(s). I couldn't have gotten luckier my last trip -- first time ever at Disney DVC or regular cash room that I got what I asked for each time.

Our request success rate in the past has been about 60%; the rate has been the same whether done by phone or sending email request. They will respond to your email noting that the request has been made.

As you know, but other readers may not, getting your request added to a reservation is separate from the resort noting your request and taking the time to honor it.

Early in our ownership while learning the system we found out that Disney is like any other company. Some room assigners take pride in their work and will really try to match requests. Others maybe not.

Back when the resorts were still taking faxes for room requests we were told that one of the room assigners at WL was known for not looking at faxes and just throwing them away. :rolleyes2

We have learned to improve our success rate by owning resorts like BWV to get the Boardwalk View and VGF fixed week lake view.
