DVC Room discounts??

I have just joined DVC (150 points at BWV) and are awaiting my member package from Disney. I already have rooms booked at the GF and BWI for a 18 night trip in April/May 2004. This is a long planned trip with my best friend and I am not using my points for this trip since we have saved our money for 2 years for this WDW extravaganza!! My question.....Can I get a DVC discount on my rooms? How does this work, do I book thru MS? Can I transfer a CRO ressie over there? Are there always DVC room discounts or is it more like AP discounts....sometimes and we have to wait until they are released? Any guidance here will be greatly appreciated!!

You cannot get any discounts on those rooms. The 25% DVC discount applies to DVC resorts only and you need to reserve through MS. It also very often difficult to get rooms under that cash discount program as availability is usually limited and you can tend to have more luck the closer you are to a departure date.

You are better off trying for AP rates. They are better anyway.

If you do get the DVC discount, is it the DVC member who must be staying in the room? For example, if I am staying on points, can I get an additional room using the DVC discount for a family member staying at the same time?

The member must be staying in the room. Also, DVC housekeeping rules apply since these rooms come from points inventory (ie trash & towel on day 4 on stays of 7 nights or less).
