dvc room discount for friends?

We are using some points to take friends of ours to WDW in Dec.. They have decided they would like to move up to a 1 bedroom and pay cash for the weekend nights as I don't have enough points for the whole stay in a 1 bdrm. If the discount is available at this time will I be able to book that for them or does a DVC member have to be staying in the room?

The guest has to be staying in the room to receive the discount so the reservation will have to be in your name. However, they can always pay for it at the front desk at check in or at the end. We usually put down one card for charging purposes and split the bill the night before we leave at the front desk.
