first trip planned as DVC owners this December. As new owners, we really wanted to stay at our home resort (GFV) for this trip; however, only availability is SSR. We are on the waitlist for GFV- wondering if anyone here knows the probability of Disney allocating additional DVC rooms as it gets closer.

Have you bought direct?
Have you asked for your welcome home visit? For direct buyers they can pull inventory from cash booking to make the first visit special. It's usually at the active selling resorts, so it could be VGF.
However, I've read it's available only if you haven't already booked yourself anything. It wouldn't hurt to ask MS.

Unfortunately for your waitlist, DVD declared all of the Resort studios in BPK into the VGF condominium a short time after that building opened. So there are no more DVC rooms for them to allocate. However, people change their plans all the time, so don’t give up! Since you can have 2 WL at a time, you might want to WL two different view categories to give yourself more chances that at least one would fill.

All VGF inventory is declared and in the system. So, your only chance of getting one is if someone else cancels.

There is also a bit of a misunderstanding when it comes to getting a room on short notice with the welcome home visit for new direct buyers.

If a new buyer wants a room at a resort where all rooms have been declared, then DVC can only help you get that room if they have reserved it using their own points...which they do not do simply for sales.

But, they do have access to undeclared inventory, which right now would be RIV and AUL.. If those have not yet not been booked by a cash guest, DVD can offer it to a new DVC member since those rooms still belong to them.

That time of year is one of the most popular for DVC owners so at this point, I'd say take whatever room they might still be there and waitlist VGF!

In addition to your 2 waitlists be sure to stalk the availability tool on the DVC site preferably several times a day, waitlists don’t always grab things that open up.

I just had waitlist come through for one night in a SV studio at GFV and stalked one night in a 2 bedroom at BCV for December (was waitlisted but I picked it up first some how). I only wait listed one day at each so I had a better chance of getting matches. Good Luck!

I just found this out today.

I booked a VDH 5 night 1 BR stay with one night waitlisted. I found that night available today. I booked it as soon as a I saw it. My waitlist never grabbed it. I then canceled my wait list.

Maybe the waitlist is a program that is run like hourly or a few times a day? It's obviously not checked immediately when someone drops a room.… which it should do.

Sometimes, you could have the room and just don’t know it, I have had that happen way too many times…my waitlist was matched but not processed. And I know that because after I snagged my room and canceled the waitlist, it showed back up immediately which was obviously was the room that had been held for me.

I wish they would somehow note that..until they do, stalking works.
