Today is our 10th wedding anniversary and our gift to each other is a DVC membership (200 points at WLV). Our mortgage packet arrived yesterday (great timing). We are so excited about becoming members and can not wait to go home. We only wish we had purchased a membership the first time we toured the bwv in 97.

Are there other members who don't have children? (our family thinks our Disney obsession is a little weird)

CONGRATULATIONS! Both on your anniversary and on your dvc purchase.

Our children our grown and we love going to DW. We average 3 times a year by ourselves and take our grandchildren occasionally.

I just retired a year ago. When I was still working my coworkers thought I was wierd. They would roll their eyes and shake their heads when I said I was going back to DW. Oh well, we can just feel sorry for them, they don't know what they are missing.

Again congratulations.

Congrats and Welcome Home.

I have a child so I cant answer the other question.

Just wanted to Welcome You Home thats all:jester:

We have been DVC members since 1997, and our children are long grown. We go 2-3 times a year on average, and sometimes take our grown children, friends and family, but also go by ourselves. We love the magic of Disney, and wouldn't change our habits for anything! We started out with 230 points and added on 150 more. I would love to have enough points to spend a couple months there in the winter after we retire!

Next year we are celebrating our 10th. We bought into VWL last year and no, we do not have children (we are pretty child-like without them!) Our family thinks we are weird also. Oh well.

Welcome Home!

I not only don't have kids but I'm single too! Try to explain a DVC Membership to people who think WDW is only for families. Little do they know how great DVC is for everyone regardless of age, marital status or number of children.

Have a wonderful time with your DVC stays. :bounce:

"WELCOME HOME"

My DW and I just celebrated our 25th at OKW. First time at WDW without our DD. It was great, you don't need kids to enjoy the magic of WDW.

:D ;)

Congratulations!
We are up to our 5th anniversary, no kids (yet!), and we love visiting Disney. We bought DVC because we wanted to be looking forward to lots of "honeymoons" when we might otherwise not go if we weren't being "forced to". We love to travel as do our parents but neither my parents nor my DH's have been on a real trip together in at least a decade! We didn't want to end up like that. After this trip in December we are planning a cruise and then England, Disneyland Paris and Italy - plus we have to do the safari! I was a little usnsure at first but now I am back to feeling that this is one of the best decisions we have made as a married couple. Who cares what other people think - we are happier than many other couples I know and we have fun and laugh all the time! I would rather be planning yet another honeymoon than paying for a divorce lawyer - just think of the money you will save!

<marquee behavior="alternate">Welcome home!!!<img src="http://www.disboards.com/forums/images/smilies/boldpurple.gif"></marquee>

I'm single and have purchased 260 points at OKW and just did a 70 point add-on at VWL. My family has a similar love for the beach so they understand finding a place that you enjoy going back to over and over. I'm lucky with that. The people at work give me the "isn't that nice for you but what an idiot" look whenever I tell them I'm going back to Disney.

:smooth: We just signed up too(see thread)--no kids, either (yet). We're in our mid 30's & just got back from AKL for our 5th anniv. 3 weeks ago.

Took the tour (by the way, we got lunch (@ESPN, SPoodles or BRGrille)) & were impressed. I'm the extremely cautious one about things but after reading this board I think, we've made the right decision. We both love DW & don't want to ever get tired of it so we are looking forward to trying HH &VB. I'm still a little freaked over the $&financing but I know what we spent on one trip ($2500) & if we wait even a year, life would get in the way & there we'd be wondering what to do or do we have the $ for a vacation. This way there's no worries & the $ we'll save just eating breakfast in the room much less any other meals will pay the dues (I think)

Welcome to us both.

WELCOME HOME!

My wife and I were lucky enough to see the light in '98 when we purchased at BWV while on our Honeymoon:crazy: Talk about catching you when your vulnerable.... when we got back I kept asking my self what I was thinking.... but you know..... I (with a knock in the head from DW) quickly came to my senses and have enjoyed ourselves each year since.

My most of my coworkers though we were nuts saying "what could you possibly do down there every year?" I quickly reply "anything I want, because we're going back next year, and the year after that... and year after that..... My dear friend at work now wants to travel down there and is continually asking my advice... and finally breaks down to tell me that he first thought I was nuts for buying DVC..... but now he realizes.....future children, family getaways, friends... there is always room for everyone.

We have taken advantage of BWV as a couple, our last trip with my side of the family, and our next trip will be with my DW side, having 2 - 2bdrms for the 14 of us! What an adventure.....

Hope our example helps.... we experienced it without children and will next be enjoying it with our own.

We've been married 15 years..no kids.. Joined DVC in 1997 and have had a wonderful time dreaming about, and using our points. Started off with 220 and have added an additional 230..because we just kept wanting more of the magic DVC has to offer!

Disney is for all ages...we love to watch the little ones, it adds to the experience!

We both work at jobs with high stress levels...there's nothing like driving through the gates of OKW and knowing that we're home again. The stress just melts away!

Welcome home..wishing you many happy years of fun filled DVC vacations!

Today is our 22nd anniversary. Just wanted to wish a fellow DVCer a happy 10th on June 2. Good luck, you will love your upcoming purchase. :D

Just wanted to say thank you for all the replies and warm welcomes:cool: I know we will have many wonderful vacations with DVC!!!

:pinkbounc

We just did the same thing for our 10th Anniversary two weeks ago, and, no kids. Closing on June 15!

Are there other members who don't have children? (our family thinks our Disney obsession is a little weird)

We have no children either and we sometimes get some weird looks too.
As I post this from our beautiful studio at BWV, however I can assure you that it doesn't matter one little bit. We know we made a very smart purchase.
Welcome Home!!!

We just purchased in March of this year after 6 years of walking past the DVC kiosks in the parks and nudging each other saying, "go ask!" - "no, you go and ask!" We were so afraid of the typical high pressure timeshare nonsense. Can't believe all the time we wasted...

We don't have kids nor do we even own a home! We love to travel and on occasion travel with family (who are always willing to go but still think we're nuts for all our Disney trips! ) or friends so DVC is perfect for us.

Look forward to seeing your around the pool.
Enjoy !!

:D

We celebrate our 10 anniv this year also. No kids. We bought at VWL in January and can't wait to go back our first time next January.

Wishing you many more happy years!
:D

My dh and I are married almost 10 years and do have two sons, 9 and 5. We purchased DVC with the full intent of going at least once a year with or without the children. I get lots of weird looks from people too, even people that will spend 2 or 3000 dollars on a week at the Jersey shore year after year. And they think I have a problem?;)

Enjoy your membership and congratulations.:)
