What is that? Unofficial tour guide stuff?
Yes, exactly that. Disney banned quite a few people who had Disney private tour businesses last year because it directly interfered with their own private tour offerings. Here With Ears may have been the most famous because of their YouTube channel. I believe they were (are?) in legal talks with Disney to maybe get that revoked but I’m not sure what’s happened since they posted the video about the ban.

So they were doing pay for tour services? Don’t many groups have your leads? Especially foreign visitors. I have seen people holding a flag for a group and they definitely aren’t Disney employees. I guess I don’t understand.

I’m not sure exactly. But I don’t think those international groups are lead by people who are specially being paid for being a tour guide. More like a field trip group leader?

I guess Disney is saying that those doing private paid tours are actively taking away potential paying clients from Disney since they offer that exact service with their VIP tours and such. Disney’s sandbox, we just get to play in it? 🤷🏼‍♀️

The foreign tour groups have licensed with Disney to be allowed to operate there. Especially the South American ones - Brazil ia a massive market for Disney World, so there are a half-dozen officially licensed tour operators that can run paying groups through the parks with the flags.

I do not know exactly either, but I think some of the banned guides also exploited the DAS to let their groups skip the lines. (I have no idea who the people in previous posts are, I'm not referring to anyone in particular, just a rumor I caught reading other blogs).

We are still a good bit from retirement, but our youngest has about 7 years left of school (don't want to rush this time away at all), but once the kids are out of the house, I'm hoping we are able to work remote for 3-4 weeks at a time in September and Early December.

Hi Everyone.

I was talking to my wife about how neat it would be to get enough points to stay a whole month on property when we retire. Does anyone else do this?

I just thought thought it would be great to get away from the cold and spend time just hanging out and enjoying the parks and atmosphere.
Yes! We stay for 3-4 weeks per year on our points. When we retire this year, we could technically stay for 5 in low season. WE are tempted.

That was our goal twenty years or so ago. We eventually acquired enough points to spend the month of January in a one bedroom at OKW. BUT! ... Just before I retired we purchased a home in Florida 23 miles from WDW and then sold off all but 210 points at OKW. We now just go for short 2 or 3 nights here and there.

I don't think I could stay longer than about 10 days anywhere. There are too many other things I like to do that can't travel with me.

I knew someone who did those private tours, former cast member and yes she exploited DAS to do it so people did do that unfortunately.

On another note, out of curiosity, after you stay a month, how long do you have to leave for before you come back 😅

I've thought about doing this at a 2 bedroom villa or treehouse every other year. That way instead of trying to coordinate vacation times we could just say to the adult kids "This is the month we are there if you want to visit". Then it's on them to figure out if they want to go or not.

I'm doing a shorter version of that in Park City this summer. "We've got a 3BR for the week, Wednesday-to-Wednesday. You and your partners are welcome for as much or as little as you'd like; all flights are on me."

They are at that stage of their lives when getting away is a challenge, they don't get to do it very often, and they might not want to take what little time they have with Dad.
