DVC resorts that don't interest you at all?

Interesting to hear Simba's Mom's comment about her guide saying that SSR will not being condo-type units because my family stayed at one of the two bedroom condos at DI in 2000. It was nice but a little dated. I was hoping they would do something similar but with better theming. My only complaint about DI was the fireworks at midnight from PI got annoying and the lights from DTD and PI were very bright even with the thick, light-blocking curtains closed.

SSR really doesn't interest me at all. It's not that I wouldn't stay there, but the theming doesn't do anything for me. I also have heard about the noise/lights issue being close to PI and that kind of turns me off about the resort location as well.

I would stay at any of the DVC resorts. We have stayed at OKW and HH so far and will be going to VB in the summer. I stayed with a friend one summer at BWV. I would like to try them all!

We have only had the opportunity to stay at our home resort of VWL so far, which we loved. I would like to try all the resorts eventually, but some don't appeal to me like others. I was born and raised near the beach in Florida, and for this reason OKW has no appeal to me at all. All OKW needs is a few Publix shopping carts parked outside the units, and you would have a nice retirement community that I have seen in Bradenton, FL one too many times!!:teeth: :teeth: Please if love OKW don't take this seriously, but I cannot get this image out of my mind, it's a personal thing! I do intend to stay there some time just to try and see, and give it a fair shake. Since I was raised by the beach, and don't get that thrill that some do when they see it, I probably will never stay at VB. I like a little more action during my vacations, and am not content to just look at the view of the water for a few days.

I would have to say HH. If I'm on an island, I want to at least be on the ocean. I also don't like that they don't have a proper lounge.

If I had to chose least favorite on-property it would be BWV. To me its only real advantage to the other resorts is its proximity to MGM.

VB and HH.

No, I've never been to either. Can't stand the beach and the only thing worth doing in Hilton Head is playing golf, and you do that at a resort with a golf course.

We have been to all the DVC resorts except HH over the last 10 years. Each one makes for a great vacation. Having so many choices is a big plus. When we joined, the one and only Disney Vacation Club was what is now know as OKW. After staying at each, our lease favorite "on site" would be BWV. But we would stay at any of them in a heart beat. We're looking forward to staying HH some day, and any new DVCs that open.

Buying into DVC was the best money I ever spent.

While BWV is my "home" resort w/ the most points, (we hve add-ons at WLV and VB), I ahve yet to stay there. I have visited BWV and I have made ressies for my mon there and have visited her while I was at OKW.
I have stayed at OKW, VB, HH and BCV. I love them all. For me it is whatever I am in the mood for-if I want to be near MK or Epcot or no park in particular or the beach I have equally great places from which to chose!!

Isn't that why we all are DVC members-we get QUALITY and Choices!!

So I'd ask the question maybe another way. Of all the resorts you've stayed at, is there any that you'll never go back to again? Any that fit the "Been there, done that, don't need to go back again" description?

Well, BWV is our favorite, we love OKW as well. Really want to try VWL. Enjoyed HH(going back in June!)..and then there's BCV..while the rooms themselves are nice, I wouldn't bother staying there again.
Even SAB couldn't sway me, I was very disappointed in it.
All that being said, BCV is the BEST for Epcot access and I loved being so close..but BWV are close enouigh. :D
So while I didn't hate it(after all we were at WDW!), I wouldn't choose to stay there, as long as any other resort was available.
I haven't been to Vero, and probably never will, only b/c I can't imagine going all the way to FL and not spending all our time at WDW. We have beaches here at home. ;)

We have never stayed at any of these resorts. But the one that my hubby will not stay at is OKW. We own 4 resorts, the only 2 that we don't own are WLV and OKW.

We like to be able to walk to the parks (BWV and BCV) and have all the restaurants/eateries within walking distance. We like to visit WL, but have no desire to stay there. The only reason I would consider staying there is for the Bike/Boat plan because of the Seven Sea Lagoon, much bigger than the one by BCV/BWV. But that won't happen until several years down when my kids are older.

However, I may have spoken too early. We will check out OKW once we are down at WDW and maybe we will change our opinion.

Too many resorts, and too little vacation time.......

I was in the process of adding on at BCV, but cancelled after reading many of the comments on these boards. After spending my F&W vacation there with a balcony that felt like a highway overpass, I was very happy I didn't go through with the add on! Other than that, it's a nice enough resort, but not for me. Sitting on my balcony relaxing is a priority for me on vacation, so I won't risk staying at BCV again. I have stayed at all of the other resorts and love them all, and I am looking forward to trying out Saratoga Springs when it opens.

But the one that my hubby will not stay at is OKW.

My DH didn't want to stay at OKW either when we first joined DVC. He said it looked like a place for old people, BWV would be much better, etc. Well, when we did a 50 pt addon we had a use it or lose situation with these points and OKW was the only place we could get in at 2 mo notice. He loved it! We now own at OKW as well as HH and BCV. This July we will actually stay at all 4 of the onsite DVCs so I will have a better idea of which resort I actually like the best/least.

At the risk of sounding like "pollyanna", I have to say that anywhere I can spend time with my family is great with me. We ADORE VWL just as I imagine others ADORE OKW. For us, we bought into VWL and so that's our second home and where we stay while at WDW. I LOVE HH and I know I would love all the others--because it's vacation. Time away from e-mails, voice mails, fax machines, phone calls, etc...

So bring on the vacations!!!! And a post along these lines that I found to be quite enjoyable was one done a few months back. What resort--other then your home resort--is your favorite and why?

~Laura :p

I own at VWL and I find that the rooms are way to dark for my taste. I didn't think that I would like OKW but when we stayed there in August I just love it. It is peaceful and the rooms are bright and cheerful.:D

Okay, I can't figure it out....what is an "F&W" vacation?

Sorry about that, Pam. It's my annual Food & Wine Festival trip :) It's my special time when I leave DH and the kids at home and take time just for me :D

We have stayed at the four on-site and love them, we would stay at any. I really don't have any interest in HH or VB, might try HH if we have extra points and get tired of WDW ;)
Don't have a lot of interest in SSRR either, but will probably try it because it is on-site. If I were to rank them, not to start the mine is better, but to show interest:
Like and would stay:
BWV
VWL
OKW
BCV

Might stay:
SSRR
HH

No Interest:
VB

We've stayed at all 6 DVC resorts and look forward to staying at SSR once it opens.

We've found enjoyable aspects at each one unique to that resort and also minor differences. While we do have our favorites, we'd be delighted to visit any DVC resort again in the future.

We do go to the parks daily when at an onsite resort, but enjoy the ambiance of our villa. Balconies, living rooms, jacuzzi tubs and kitchen facilities are all significant aspects of our vacations and fortunately, all are provided. We always use WDW transportation and are able to plan our activities around possible travel delays without issue. We've not found any resort to be better- or worse- in that regard.

To answer the original question...No, there are no DVC resorts that don't interest us at all- we have enjoyed them all!

Enjoy!

When we bought at VWL, we had no interest in ANY other DVC resort. In fact, we probably wouldn't have bought DVC if they hadn't built VWL...because we enjoyed WL that much.

So a year ago, I would have said you can keep all the other DVC resorts and I'll be happy at VWL for the next 40 years.

Then we stayed at BWV.

Okay, so we really liked BWV and bought a contract there after our stay.

I have to keep telling myself I won't like the other DVC resorts. Because I'm afraid if I stay at another one of them..............

It's my annual Food & Wine Festival trip

Now, I feel silly. Of course, F&W=Food & Wine. I'll have to remember that one!
