We're thinking of going to WDW in September next year, instead of our usual May. I saw that September is the lowest in terms of points, which is what initially appealed to me. Then I thought, I wonder if it's a popular time for a lot of DVCers for that reason, the lowest in points? Is it hard or easy to get ressies at that time? Anyone with experiences?

I posted a similar question a while ago and the responses I got were that the least busy DVC times are January, May and September. We are going this Sept. and I didn't book until June (2 OKW studios) and it wasn't a problem. I didn't have any special requests, though.
I think the busiest DVC time that is also low points is the beginning of December.
Good luck and have a great time - I think it's cooler in Sept than May!:wave2:

September is one of the easiest times to get a DVC points reservation. I would be shocked if you had a problem getting any of the resorts.

Best wishes -

We also did a last minute trip for this September in an OKW studio and were wondering how crowded the parks were??

September should be a low crowd month for DVC and WDW in particular. So many people have children who are school aged....and even if they pull them out of school for vacations, they are not likely to do so in the first few weeks of school.

I think you will find September to be very uncrowded. But you will also find shorter park hours and a lot of the seasonal attractions closed. Not a bad trade-off for small lines and nice weather (though it can definitely still be quite hot).

Im waiting on a resale for OKW that has 250 banked points from2002 ansd 2003. The 2002 points need to be used by 10/1 so I am hoping to go in September. Problem is, I can't make my ressie until I am in the system which will be end of July.

Sept shouldn't be a problem even in August.

just depends upon where you want to stay - if you don't care - then you should find something.

the guests in the park are generally not from the US - so don't get upset if you and a few others are the only ones speaking English.

This thread is Brilliant!

We are planning our first trip home to DVC in Sept2005 and we are going to be staying away from our actual home (SSR) until the construction gets out of the way. Definetly going to tour the hotel though, its a lot of fun because we actually own there now!

Anyways, we are going to be booking a 2br at BWV and its a relief to know that we should be able to get the ressie easily.

See we are taking my MIL and SIL again, only this time we are going to entice them with our DVC membership. Last trip we stayed in the Tiny rooms of ASMv and AKL... With a 2BR we want to knock her socks off. They were originally scheduled to attend the tour on our last trip but they didn't wake up in time, so she has yet to even see BWV.

I just called yesterday and switched my BCV ressies for BWV. Got two studios, no problem..and it's just before 60 days out.

Sept is the peak hurricane month, that along with schools all over starting just before or around labor day is why WDW/DVC and Florida in general has very light crowds. Don't worry about the Hurricanes, Mickey does NOT allow them on the property.

September is one of our favorite times to go. Low crowds and still hot. Same weather as May except more of a chance of rain. The hours are shorter but you get to do so much more in less time. There is always the pool back at the resort after the parks close.

We were in WDW between hurricanes one year! The parks had been closed the day before we got there. Many of the people who stayed at WL (where we were, this was pre-DVC) were Floridians seeking shelter. There were no crowds, but hurricanes can happen.

LOL! Thanks! The hurricanes were the one hesitation DH had, so I'll tell him that. Actually we do care where we stay-really want OKW, and of all the DVC resorts, I know that OKW is always the least difficult to get in to, so this all sounds very good.

Sept. is the best time all year aside from the holidays. The weather is perfect. The crowds are very low. The points are less. And it has a much more laid back feel. It's an in-between time from the busy summer to upcoming Halloween and December holidays. You can usually book very late or even last minute. And you can usually be pretty successful requesting room locations. It will rain. But it is the 3:00 skies open for 10 minutes kind of rain. Just remember the ponchos. Hopefully you still have the yellow ones. The clear ones are lame. Even though I do understand the logic behind them.

Think so, eh?

September '02 we were at OKW for 6 days. First four of the days it rained--from about 3pm on into the night. One member of our party was a golfer and had planned three days of golfing. Didn't make it through a single round. Even when it wasn't raining, the courses were completely drenched from days of wet weather that preceeded our stay.

That'll be the last September trip we take for a while.

We just closed on a BCV resale and are waiting to be put in "the system" so we can make our first ressie. Planning our first trip home in September. I called yesterday, using the member # from our proposed purchase at SSR, to inquire about availability. We are planning on a 2 BR and I was told that lots of space remained at BCV, BWV, VWL and SSR. I don't think you will have any trouble getting a ressie once your resale closes, actually, you will probably still have your choice of several resorts.

We go in Sept. because the weather is still warm enough to fully enjoy the pools and water parks but mostly just to avoid crowds. The park hours are shorter but without any waiting that is never a problem and leaves more time to enjoys pools and the resort. The crowds were so light last year that during the entire week the Fast Pass machines were only turned on once and that was on Labor Day. When the kids get older and involved in more activities it will be harder to take them out of school but right now we think it is worth it.

We will be there from Sept 1 - 10; 3 days VWL (studio) and 6 days with relatives at OKW Grand Villa!!!

From the sounds of this discussion and another discussion board, Sept is starting to be a popular month at WDW. BTW we are new owners at Saratoga Springs, but was able to reserve OKW Grand Villa just two days notice ( staying from 9-4 thru 9-10). Might not ever get this lucky again!!! Thought that OKW GV is a lot more convenient for six adults vs geting a 2 br and studio at Saratoga. Would have like the GV at Saratoga but the points so much higher

We have gone in Sept. many, many times. NO problem ever getting OKW one bedroom.
As for hurricanes--don't believe one has actually ever HIT WDW. The one in which they closed the parks, etc etc. never did hit WDW--in fact, I think it missed actually hitting Florida as well.
In all our trips we've never encounterd a hurricane except once--and that was right here in Pa.--not Florida!!

September is the second hottest month of the year. The hottest months are July and August (tied) and the next are June and September (also tied).

It is also the 4th wettest month of the year. There are four bad months for rain -- June, July, August September.

So if you like it hot and humid, September is great because crowds are very low.

September is WAY TOO HOT for us! We have been there 3 times in September, and the rain and heat made it not the best trips we have had. Lines are non-existant, but the heat and rain are a problem. We prefer January when it can be nice and comfortable with small crowds and almost never any rain.
