DVC reservation advice!

First let me say thank you to all the great advisors here on the boards, your advice has been invaluable to our process of joining DVC!!

Now that we are members, it is time to make our first reservation... We purchased a resale that has 100 banked points that must be used in UY 2009 (we have Sept UY) these points are at BWV. We also have 200 points coming at BLT in Sept. We would like to stay at BLT in Feb 2010, and our stay would require 250 points.

What is the best way to make this reservation? I would really like to use the banked points, since they must be used next year, but since they are BWV, they cannot be used to book BLT until the 7 month mark... Should I book some part of the stay now using BLT points, since I will need 150 additional points and call at the 7 month mark to use the 100 banked BWV points?

Any advice greatly appreciated!

If your banked BWV points are originally from Sept 2008 UY allotment you will have from 9/1/2009 - 8/31/2010 to utilized them for a trip that occurs between these dates. You cannot call MS to use points from BWV to book Feb 2010 stay at BLT until earliest July 1 2009 - at 7 months or less to check in date you want at BLT is when you'd be able to apply those BWV to reservation at BLT. From 11 months - 7 months+1day before check-in date desired points may only be used to book at the Home Resort they are 'tied' to.

jmho, based on popularity of BLT book what you can now at BLT using your BLT points and at 7 month mark book with banked BWV points & BWV points from your Sept 2009 UY allotment. You may want to book at BWV right now those extra nights you're hoping for at BLT so you will at least have something reserved in case the rest of the dates at BLT aren't available at 7 months for Feb 2010 at BLT.

My DH asked why I would not just split the stay into two parts, use the banked points to book the BWV for a few nights and use some of the BLT points for the remaining nights. All of which can be booked in the home resort window now. I really don't want to move (what do you do with the stuff from your fridge??) but want to make sure that we have a backup plan in case we cannot get the remaining nights at BLT with the banked BWV points when the 7 month window opens.

DH asked why don't we make a second reservation at BLT now for the same nights as the BWV nights (using BLT points) with the hope to cancel that reservation at the 7 month window and rebook using the BWV points. I told him that I did not think you could do that, but that I would check with the experts here on the boards.

Any thoughts on that??
