I am starting my search to add on points. I have checked out both the Timeshare Store and atimeshare.com. I know of one other, reids, but I don't know their reputation. Where else can I look and what are their reputations? If this is not a postable thread please pm me or e-mail me!! Thanks!

If you know of any secrets to financing a resale, I am also interested in that info. I can't get a home equity as our house actually belongs to my father. Any other ways to beat the 11.5% interest? Or to get more than 5 years to finance it? I always pay off loans early but it is nice to have the smaller payment incase you have bad months and need it. I know I can get the same interest plus 10 years through Disney but I have to wait on a waiting list. That could take months!!

Another good resource is www.tug2.net- which has private sale classified listings. Resale may not the best way to find add-on sized contracts, as the closing costs often make it more expensive than thru DVC.

Most resale brokers can suggest financing, but usually these are not competitive with home equity or DVC financing.

Good Luck!

Thanks for the resorce Doc. But wouldn't resales still be a good option since we want to add on over 300 pts?

Absolutely! I was thinking more along the lines of 25-100 points as an add-on. You are talking about a whole contract and resale is an excellent way to find a bargain!

Have fun with the process!

You're welcome, I hope it helps. Stroman is the largest timeshare resaler I believe. They are pretty good to buy from but not that great to sell with as they require an upfront fee. The Century 21 in Orlando also gets some listings. Hotel group also gets some DVC but tend to be high.

Though the 2 main sites discussed here on DIS are good to work with, there is a potential problems I see with them. That is that I wonder if they don't affect the resale prices upward. I'm not saying I blame them as long as their honest about it. Just remember that they work for the seller no matter how nice or professional they are. Another problem I see with resales beside the closing costs in the fact that it's common for the resale and closing company to misrepresent the maint fees due. The idea of "you get this years points so you pay this year fees", is wrong and frequently results in several hundreds of dollars of overpayment on the buyers part. The reason for this is that DVC is different than other timeshares.
