My family and I have a bid for 250 point at SSR that was submitted to Disney on October 19th. We want to visit in January around January 15th. We've heard that it's not as crowded, and we'd like to stay at OWK in a 2BR villa. We'll have plenty of points (252 banked plus 250 more in June 2011).

We anticipate getting access to the DVC system in early December or so. Any suggestions.

This is our first DVC adventure, so we're new to all of this. We stayed at OKW last year, and decided that we wanted to get out of Maine every year during the winter.

Thanks for your advice.

As long as it is not a busy week you should have a good chance.

How long will it take us to get into Disney's system after the closing? We're also interested in getting annual passes with the DVC discounts. Will we get membership cards right away? How does that work?

Thanks in advance.

That's MLK weekend, so it may be tough getting your days that close to the start of the vacation.

5 to 10 days once your sale closes and DVC has hour paparwork.

Once you are in the system they can give you your member number (and website password) so you can get your AP vouchers then.

If the OP has a 250 point contract, can there be 252 banked?

Yes, probably 250 current use yr points + 2 banked that need to be used by 06-11. They are new so may not have all the terms down yet!

OP... welcome to DVC! Since this is a resale contract, it can take time to get thru RORF(Right of first refusal by disney) We purchased our contract in Sept a few yrs ago and were able to take a Disney vacation at Christmas time so, a Jan trip could work. We stayed at SSR that time and loved it. If you can't get OKW try SSR. Good luck:wizard: pixie dust coming your way.

Last time I checked January was almost totally packed!

Maybe to should consider renting points from A person and then selling some when you get yours. Closing can drag or be fast, depends.

Thanks to all of you for your advice. Yes, there are two banked points and 250 points from 2010 and then we'll get 250 new points in June 2011.

It sounds like we'll just need to wait and see how fast it closes and hope for the best. The contract was submitted to Disney for ROFR on Oct 19th, so we'll see...

We visited Disney for the first time in 30 years last April, and we'll looking forward to returning and (hopefully) escaping the cold weather in Maine.

If your June 2010 points were banked already, you will have to use the 2 banked points from 2009 and borrow points from 2011. If the lodging is available.
