DVC rental v. Disney Booking Backup

Hi all! I put in a request two weeks ago for a 2BR villa at Boardwalk, and made a backup reservation for Saratoga Springs for the same time frame through Disney directly. I just got word yesterday that my Boardwalk reservation has gone through, and am just waiting for confirmation on that side of things! Aside from being thrilled, I was wondering WHEN I should go through and cancel my reservation that I made through Disney. Are there any complications to having multiple reservations for the same date range? Or will I be able to add the Boardwalk reservation to MDE and then cancel my Saratoga reservation without issue?

Definitely not a rush, I though cash Disney let you cancel something like 30 or 60 days out? Why wouldn't you just hold it until it's all done?

I often have overlapping reservations in the DVC system. This would cause chaos at check in, but it doesn't matter for the park reservations or dining.
