DVC Rental & issues w/ ADR system?

I tried to make my ADR's today (I am 180 days out). System allowed me to make ADR for day 1, but not any further than that. I call Disney and finally get to someone in tech support for their website. After over an hour on the phone, they finally tell me the issue is that my salutation in my reservation is just listed as M, rather than miss, mrs, etc. They said that this is causing the online ADR system to not validate my resort reservation!

Has anyone else had an issue with this?

Btw I rented DVC points through ************** (I have contacted them about the matter), so I am unable to contact DVC member services myself to fix the issue.

Someone please say they had a similar issue and it was a quick fix, I want to be able to make my ADR's this evening after work :fingers crossed:
Thanks!

If there is a real issue in the identity of the person on the reservation, the member will have to fix it. However, it sounds like someone at Disney may not know what they are talking about. If you could make ressies for first day then there should be no issue as far as the computer is concerned about your identity to the reservation. You should thus be able to make more reservations. Also, as far as I know, the room reservations on which the dining reservations depend don't use salutations such as Mr., Mrs., etc. In other words, it sounds like you have run into one of the usual glitches with the Disney computer system that happens far too often to far too many people of not accepting additonal dining reservations when you call 180 days out from date of arrival.

We have rented our points many times and never been asked for a salutations or been given any indications of them being used or added. Regardless it should not be an issue with Disney denying access to dining reservations. The IT cast member was obviously able to see the reservation which would indicate that it is valid.

I agree with drusba. It is probably a glitch in Disney's system. These have become more prevalent in the last year. In many cases you can try again an hour later and not experience the same issues. Don't fret, I am sure it will work itself out quickly.

One thing to remember is that if you are booking your ADR online at the web site, then each reservation has to be within 180 days. If you call and book your ADR over the phone, then you can book 180 days + 10 days.

I'm surprised an MS CM could even enter an invalid salutation since I would expect the booking software would be designed so that they select something from a dropdown list rather than entering free text. It doesn't make sense to me but then again this is Disney IT we're talking about here.

I have booked online ADRs at 180 days + 10 in the past. If I remember correctly I started by booking my first reservation which required me to enter my reservation confirmation number. (And if I recall correctly, I had to go around that loop two or three times before it let me proceed but it eventually accepted my confirmation number.) Once it had that info it let me book ADRs for the additional nights.

ETA: Just checked my most recent reservation confirmations and there are no salutations displayed on any of the names. That doesn't mean the info is not entered with the reservation but if it is, they don't use it on either the villa confirmations or the ADR confirmations.

No - that's not true. As long as you connect your resort reservation online, you can use the 180+10 just like calling on the phone. I've done it multiple times over the past few years since they started the online system.

Thanks everyone..I just tried again and it is giving me the same message. I am just going to try to do my ADR's over the phone I guess. I'm glad to know that it is not in fact an issue w/ my reservation though, and just some type of Disney web glitch!

And Doug - funny thing, I am fairly certain that you are the member who placed our resort reservation for us! What a small world.

OP, I share your pain. I've been trying to make my ADRs with the +180 window all week and the system will not recognize any of my room reservations either. I started my ADRs while in WDW and did a few on 10/25/11 (the day before the last upgrade to require cc). I had no problem attaching my reservation. So I came home and went to finish several days ago and now the Disney website can not find or recognize any of my room reservations for my THREE week spring trip. I have 3 different rooms and none will work. I made one ADR on the phone and while it does exist (I called MS to vertify) it does not show up online. I've called and got no where. I wrote and got an email back today telling me that she "updated" my reservations and gave me the reservations numbers....duh, which are the numbers I've used over and over again. I've tried dumping my cookies doing a restart and nothing. Even when I'm in the dining site it throws me out when I do a search on another restrautant. MS was no help at all. I did write back and tell them that it still doesn't work. I know it's nothing I'm doing as I've done this hundreds of times before. How frustrating. I've sure it all has to do with the last upgrade on 10/26/11. I've gone to "my reservations" on the main WDW website and after logging in ALL of my room reservations show up just fine.

Ugh it's terrible! The part that was infuriating was that I just knew the IT person I spoke to was wrong. Why would my salutation kick me out of the ADR system, when it doesn't ask you your salutation as part of the confirmation? So silly. I admit,I lost my temper on that woman, because she just kept telling me to call the dining phone number again (when I had already called and been disconnected once before that!). Also, she never once apologized. A little empathy goes a long way, and admitting they were wrong would have helped too (even just saying "we have been experiencing some glitches since we updated our system several days ago."). At least then, I wouldn't feel like I was crazy!

All told, I spent 1 hour 42 minutes on the phone w/ disney today, according to my call logs. And guess what...I still have to call back again tomorrow, they got my celebrations wrong on all of my ressies! argh!

Yes that's me. I had called DVC that morning to ask about the problem you were having and they were the ones that told me about the difference between booking online vrs booking by the phone. Sounds like that is wrong as well as others have reported that they could do the 180 days + 10 days once they got their confirmation number attached.

I've always done by dining reservation using the online system and have found it real easy to use, but then I've always been well past the 180 days limit so never had that kind of problem.

Hope you've got all your reservation sorted out.
