DVC rental for Thanksgiving week?

My neighbors have decided to do Disney during Thanksgiving week. I'm going to help them plan their vacation, which will probably be tough given that it's July already and they haven't booked yet! Does anyone think it would be possible to rent points or to rent an existing reservation for this week? They have 3 boys (2 teens and a tween), so a DVC resort would probably be more comfortable for them space-wise and kitchen-wise than a regular Disney resort. They don't know enough about Disney to be picky about a resort. They stayed at Carribean Beach on their one other Disney trip, and they hated it. I guess that I'm hopeful but realistic about the possibility of renting points for Thanksgiving week at this late date.

My best guess is that availability will be very limited this close to Thanksgiving. However, you really never know so post your offer on the Rent/Trade Board and see what happens.

Give it a shot. Nothing ventured, nothing gained, right?

I made ressies for a 1 BR at VWL for Thanksgiving week just a few days ago, July 6. I'm waitlisted for one day, but the other 5 were no problem to snag. The CM that I talked to said that there are typically a bunch of cancellations 31 days out for holiday seasons, because people make ressies at the 7 or 11 month window "just to be on the safe side," and sometimes plans fall through. In his words, "I sure can't guarantee the wait list will come through, but I'd say you have little to worry about."

We'll see.
