We are just now looking into DVC and trying to wrap our brain around all the information. I had a few questions that I was wondering if anyone could help with.

1. How comfortable are the sofa beds?
I think because we always travel in March due to daughters school we would need approximately 215/216 points to keep us in the AKL or WL type facility. Which with that many points we would be looking at a studio. Meaning our daughter would be stuck on that sofa sleeper. She is 12 years old. Is that thing even comfortable?

2. How long does this $15 off per point promotion run?

3. Is there a closing cost on DVC?

See I told you it was just a few. We know so very little at this point I don't even know enough to ask questions!

TIA!

Okay I lied...one more question.

We generally fly in on a Thursday evening and stay until Saturday the following week. Would we be eligible to use weekly points? What days of the week are considered weekly?

Does that make sense?

Here is some quick answers.....

1) Don't know I'd have to ask the kids. I've heard there really very comfortable and there fairly new.

2) $15 promo - no clue

3)Yes there are closing costs

4) Sunday through Thursday are weekday points, Friday and Saturday are weekend points. Points required will very depending on the time of year.

Thanks for the info...

I understand this weekday vs. weekend points:

What I don't understand is on the DVC point spreadsheet here at wdwinfo.com they list Weekday, Weekend and Weekly. What is considered weekly? That is definitely less points needed.

Doesn't matter when you get there or when you leave, unless you cross into another "season". Within a season a week is any 7 night 8 day stay. Since you are staying one consecutive week it will consist of a Sun-Thursday and a Friday and Saturday. There is no discount for weekly stays. The points are the same as 5 Sun-Thurs and 2 Fri/Sat.

It might be easiest to understand with an example. Here are the points required for a Studio at SSR during Adventure Season (January, September, early December):

Sun-Thu: 11 points per night
Fri-Sat: 20 points per night
Weekly: 95 total points for 7 consecutive nights

Each weekday night (Sun, Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu) costs 11 points per night. Each weekend night (Fri, Sat) costs 20 points per night. If you stay 7 consecutive nights, your cost is 5*11 + 2*20 = 95 points. So the Weekly rate shows you the cost of staying 7 consecutive nights. You could check in on a Tuesday and check out the following Tuesday, for example, and your total cost for that stay (provided your stay was completely within Adventure season) would be 95 points. If you check in on Tuesday and stay 2 nights, it would be 22 points. If you arrive on Friday for the weekend (Fri and Sat nights) it would be 40 points.

This stay would count as 6 weekday nights and 3 weekend nights. If you took this trip entirely within Adventure season in a studio at SSR, it would cost: 6*11 + 3*20 = 126 points. Another way to calculate it is that you are staying a full week (Thu through Wed night) plus another Thu and Fri night, so you could take the weekly cost of 95 points and add one weekday night (11 points) and one weekend night (20 points): 95 + 11 + 20 = 126 points.

We just got back from BCV. My boys, 9 & 11 slept on the pull out sofa for over a week. No complaints at all. I'm sure if it was uncomfortable, I would have heard about it (over and over again :rotfl2: ).

My son slept on the pullouts from age 16 through 20. He said it was fine and I'm sure at 6' 2" he's heavier than your little girl.

I think the $15 off was last year's promotion - people replied to a thread from last year which makes it confusing. I think this year the member referral gets you developer points in addition to the $8/$10 off if you buy a sufficient number of points. And who knows when they will end promotions - the only end date we have seen published is for the 500 reward dollars if you charge your down payment on your Disney Visa (had to have Visa before 9/1/2007) - that ends 11/30/2007.

we stayed in 1 BR SSR this summer, my kids slept on sofabed. My Mom also used it one night--she said it was fine. The new ones (I assume AKV will have the new ones), fold out in 3 sections and there are no bars or center sags like other sofa beds. Bed is a bit firm, because of this.
