Dh and I have always considered buying DVC but just can't take the plunge. Do most of you pay for it outright? Anyone make payments? For those of you that make payments, are they high? Would it even be worth it since we are moving to FL (west coast) in the next 3 years?

TIA

I would take this to the DVC forums http://www.disboards.com/forumdisplay.php?f=28

I know many there are very happy to help. For us though we financed through our home equity loan. Just didn't want to drain our savings quite so much. Worked out well with an awesome interest rate.

As for the rest, it will depend on your traveling habits and how often you plan to stay on site. Moving to FL doesn't guarantee WDW will be a day trip away.

We bought a couple months ago resale so we would not have to take as large of a plunge!

I would definitly go over to the DVC part of the boards, Very, Very helpful!

If you finance through Disney the payments are pretty fair, but that depends on how many points you purchase. Figure this on a basic 160 points contract with 20% down you may find yourself paying $170 a month or so plus annual dues which can be billed monthly or once in January. Not sure of any exact figure, I'm shooting off the hip here. But if you figure Disney will be about 11.75% to finance through them.......
Good Luck

The last chart I have shows Disney financing at 10.75%. You can do better at home. If you want to stay in WDW & plan to do so for many years, DVC is for you. It pays for itself in about 7 years.

We are financing through Disney and have no regrets at all . Just means we will have a few more years before the big savings kick in.

Even with the Dues and payments we are still paying less per year then we did for our weekly trip and our Fall smaller trip. Now it's just a monthly (well 2 ) so it makes it that much easier.

I think if you are moving to FL you will get even more bang for your buck because you will be able to take more smaller Sun-Thur night trips and not feel rushed

Thanks everyone. I will check out the DVC board, I didn't think to check for one. Doh!

We just bought it outright with savings. We have the annual dues automatically withdrawn each month.

You should shop around for the best financing rates if you go that route.

we bought outright too. but we do choose a less expensive resort (OKW) which we like the looks of. I have not experienced yet.

Okay after a long purchase from the Timeshare store, everything finally went through and I started making reservations for my trip in late December. Because it took so long, we can not stay at a DVC resort but I'm just happy we got a room. I do not understand though, if we are staying on property and I want to buy my tickets through them then why can't I do the dining plan. Can anyone explain this to me? You can buy a entire package online and not stay at a DVC resort. Please respond to help a newy to comprehend.

We financed through Disney. The rate is a little higher, but it was a qquick process. Down the line, we may pay it off early or pay it off with a heloc, but for now we are very happy. There are no prepayment penalties.
