DVC Purchase Question

I am considering a purchase of ~200 points at the Animal Kingdom Villa's. I realize that you can make reservations at your home resort 11 months in advance vs. 7 at other resorts.

My questions is: given that the value of a point differs from resort to resort, are my 200 AKV points worth the equivalent 200 points if I were to attempt to make a reservation at Bay Lake Tower?

I'm just a DVC Wannabe. Here's what I've learned (and I'm sure the real DVC-ers will tell us if I'm wrong):

if you scroll up to the top of this page, and look at the upper right corner (under the ad), you will see "DVC Point Charts." Click on that. Then click on a particular DVC resort. It will tell you how many points you would need to stay at that resort on the days you want.

You aren't buying AKV points. You're buying points, and choosing AKV as your home resort.

Am I right?

Go to the "DVC Point Charts" at the top right of this page and explore the point charts for the various resorts. There is no one point is only worth half a point at another resort. What does vary is numberr of points needed per room per night. BLT has the highest point cost per room per night of the WDW resorts. OKW has the lowest.

Your 200 points count for 200 points at BLT. It is just that it cost more points to stay there. I guess the location and proximity to MK is better than the savannah views at AKV. We just purchased 210 points at AKV because it has more of a resort feel and activities than I think BLT will.....we are goin gfor the animal view.

If you are looking a various point charts your 200 points are worth 200 pts anywhere (as you said, at the 7 month window).

While you will always have 200 points, those points will not get you as far at BLT. For example, a week in an AKL studio with standard view runs 82-139 pts depending on time of year. An AKL studio with savanna view is 103-173 pts. At BLT, you need 103-183 pts for a studio with just a standard view. Hope that helps!
